Description
The CSO will also provide proactive public safety initiatives through public educational opportunities and engagement with local stakeholders.

The education aspect of the program would include attending schools to speak to students, patrolling during school start and end times, creating relationships with residents to encourage compliance for bylaws.


Term and Compensation:

Application Deadline:

- proof of Grade 12, or equivalent qualification;
- proof of Saskatchewan Class 5 Driver's licence - must not be a Novice 1 or Novice 2;
- minimum age of 18 years old;
- be of sound mind and good character;
- no criminal record;
- completion of Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Query;
- be free from criminal involvement in last three (3) years;
- successful completion of an approved physical abilities evaluation test for uniformed enforcement roles.


Job Duties:


  • Routine patrol duties and checks within the Town of White City by vehicle with occasional patrols by foot and/or bicycle.
  • Enforcement of provincial statutes, including:
  • _The Traffic Safety Act_
- _The Alcohol and Gaming Regulation Act, 1997;_
- _The Highways and Transportation Act, 1997;_
- _The Environmental Management and Protection Act, 2010;_
- _The All-Terrain Vehicles Act;_
- _The Snowmobile Act;_
- _The Municipalities Act;_
- _The Trespass to Properties Act;_
- _The Mental Health Services Act;_
- _The Stray Animals Act;_
- _The Summary Offence Procedures Act;_
- _The Tobacco Act; and_
- _The Cannabis Control (Saskatchewan) Act_.

  • Manage and maintain the town's bylaw enforcement:
  • management of municipal requests for service;
- reporting of bylaw or provincial statute infractions;
- provide evidence and testimony in municipal bylaw court; and
- manage bylaw enforcement including communicating with stakeholders on bylaw infractions and managing bylaw issues and complaints.

  • Communicating, both verbally and in writing, to citizens and stakeholders in a manner appropriate for each group.
  • Response to not in progress criminal property offences of Theft Under $5000. (Criminal Code Sec. 334 (b) and Mischief under $5000. (Criminal Code Sec for the purpose of receiving information, evaluating and liaising with the local police of jurisdiction as required.
  • Respond to motor vehicle accidents without injuries.
  • Regular reporting and duties as mandated by _The Police Act, 1990 _and the Ministry of Corrections, Policing and Public Safety Community Safety Officer Program Policy Manual.
  • As an appointed Special Constable/Community Safety Officer, you will work collectively and patrol the community through shift work on a regular basis for enforcement, prevention, intervention, and education with regular interaction and liaison with RCMP staff.
  • Other projects and duties as required.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:


  • Proven experience dealing with sensitive issues, political acuity and organizational skills to effectively manage interactions with various internal and external contacts with tact and discretion.
  • High level of good judgement, diplomacy and confidentiality.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and constructive relationships with individuals at all levels of the organization, members of council and representatives of external organizations.
  • Communication, report writing and presentation skills.
  • Computer skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
  • Ability to work well under pressure, complete multiple assignments and function effectively in a highvolume workplace with tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently to complete tasks, work with high accuracy, and work within time constraints.
  • Working knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations and statutes.
