- Answer public inquiries and liaise with applicants by mail, telephone, e-mail, or in person to obtain further citizenship application information and documentation, as required, and to keep them informed on the status of their applications.
- Order application documents through Alberta Vital Statistics Office.
- Provide Commissioner of Oath services to certify the authenticity of documents, when required.
- Update citizen information (e.g. address change) when forms are missing or unavailable.
- Contact citizens with youth dependents to encourage youth applying for citizenship.
- Enter all telephone inquiries into the database for tracking purposes.
- Complete internal reporting of statistical information pertaining to citizenship applications and processing.
- Provide support to Registry Agents and Intake, as required, including but not limited to:
- Present a positive attitude as well as a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality in all interactions.
- Participate in staff meetings and special projects within the department.
- Present a positive and professional image of the organization when interacting with employees, clients/customers, visitors, and other external stakeholders.
- Travel throughout the province of Alberta to assist with Registry Sessions and other events.
- Other duties as required or assigned.
- Strong understanding of the MNA registry process with the ability to proofread contents of citizenship applications.
- Ability to produce accurate, precise, error free data entry.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and database applications.
- Sound planning, prioritization, and execution skills, with an ability to take initiative.

- High School Diploma or equivalent. Training or education as an Administrative Professional is considered an asset.
- Previous data entry experience is an asset.
- Ability to obtain Commissioner of Oaths designation.
- Position will be based in Edmonton; in-office presence will be required.
- Ability to work office hours of Monday – Friday, 8:30 am – 4:30 pm.
- Able to travel throughout Alberta (required) for events and to facilitate Registry sessions. Travel will be up to 25%.
- Must hold a Valid Class 5 Driver's License and have reliable transportation.

The Opportunity
The Métis Nation of Alberta is recruiting for a Registry Clerk. Reporting to the Registry Operations Supervisor, the Registry Clerk will be responsible for providing support and coverage for Registry Agents and Intake as required. In addition, this position will include ordering documents for applications and ensuring Métis citizenship applications are complete before sending to the Genealogy department. This successful candidate will possess precise data entry skills, strong attention to detail, the ability to build relationships with citizens/community members, and an understanding of the Métis Nation of Alberta citizen application process. This role will require travel throughout Alberta for Registry Sessions or other events.
Key Responsibilities
o Conduct initial assessments to ensure that in-person applicants have all mandatory documents prior to commencing with the citizenship intake process.
o Validate application requirements and data capture applicant information into the database.
o Prepare files for quality assurance review and Métis ID card authorization.
o Assist with obtaining Harvester applications at time of intake.
