The Opportunity
Reporting to the Supervisor, Operator Qualification & Technical Training, this role is responsible for collaborating with identified Mentors and Superintendents from the utility construction yards to prepare/deliver formal/ informal training plans and competency assessments to ensure field workers' competency gaps are rectified and proficiency levels are increased to a level deemed competent and qualified.
What You'll Do Here:
- Conduct competency assessments and evaluate tasks being performed in the field.
- Update and maintain a list (matrix) of qualified employees and completed evaluations.
- Schedule, evaluate, and monitor evaluation activities prior to the expiration date of the qualifications for each worker, and notifying the Superintendent prior to Operations Quality certification expiration dates.
- Review Client and/or other external documentation when creating or revising updates for program material as necessary.
- Review and update program in collaboration with the Program Supervisor to identify any possible gaps or enhancements to the program.
- Use various learning aids such as IPADs and other technologies to administer evaluations.
- Administer technical training based on learning gaps identified through the OQ programs, such as incident investigations, nonconformances, legislative requirements, Ministry Orders, and/or the introduction of new tools/equipment and/or policies/procedures.
- Design and build props and scenarios to enhance learning objectives and provide a forum for handson practical OQ evaluations.
- Collaborate with field operations to provide guidance for improvements regarding issues/concerns raised.
- Accountable for documenting, and inputting data into Success Factors (Learning Management System).
- Ensuring that accurate and complete records are kept of all technical training provided.
- Facilitate yard training meetings as required.
- Provide content expertise in the development of training packages.
- Provide OntheJob coaching to front line staff.
- Assist in the training and assessments required as part of the onboarding/orientation of new workers.
- Assist in the investigation and analysis of new technologies (i.e., simulations, virtual realities, software programs) to be utilized for training and innovation.
- Drive an inclusive culture to promote equity, welcome different perspectives, and enable career progression by fostering a sense of belonging.
What You Will Bring to The Team:
- Previous Experience in utility construction (Oil & Gas, Telecommunications and Power Services).
- Knowledge of the CAN/CSA Z662, CAN/CSA 247 standards an asset.
- Master Electrician or Certified Journeyman Electrician an asset, but not required.
- Power Line Technician with Live Line Training Experience a strong asset.
