Job Description and Duties
- Conduct needs assessment with studentsif needed.
- Follow course outlines as indicated by classroom teacher if subbing is for a period longer than a couple of days.
- Plan themebased lessons and modules that are aligned with the CLBs and meet the expectations of Portfolio-Based Language Assessment (PBLA) if needed and if subbing is for more than a couple of days.
- Develop and administer levelappropriate, realworld assessment tasks in Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing if subbing period of a class is for over 10 days.
- Deliver appropriate and creative instruction in language development while also teaching about Canada and Canadian culture while following classroom teacher course outline.
- Ensure taskbased delivery of lessons, using a variety of materials, strategies, and techniques to keep students engaged
- Provide a report on student performance on daily class workto the classroom teacher and or coordinator.
- Collaborate with members of the LINC instructional and administrative team if needed,
- Manage the classroom to ensure an optimum learning environment working with culturally diverse populations
- Attend and participate relevant professional development opportunities, including conferences if available.
- Maintain accurate daily attendance registers, and submit all required documents including final grades, reports as required to the classroom teacher and coordinator.
- Adhere to all LINC, ASSIST, PBLA, and funder policies and expectations
Qualifications and Skills:
- Certificate, Diploma, or Degree in Teaching English recognized by TESL Canada
- Bachelor's degree
- Excellent oral and written English communication skills
- Previous teaching experience using Google classroom.
- Previous teaching experience preferred
- Demonstrated knowledge and familiarity of Canadian Language Benchmarks, Portfolio-Based Language Assessment (PBLA), and Task-Based Language Teaching (TBLT)
- Good knowledge of Canada and Canadian culture, experience living and working in Canada
- Experience with multicultural clientele, especially those with limited English skills
- Able to work independently without supervision and contribute to a team
- Highly organized, with exceptional timemanagement, decisionmaking, and prioritization skills
- Strong computer skills
- Firstaid training an asset
- CLB Bootcamp certificate
Job Types:
Part-time, Contract
Salary:
$41.00-$43.00 per hour
Schedule:
- Day shift
- Evening shift
- Monday to Friday
- On call
