  • The AVP, Reinsurance & Data Analytics is responsible for optimizing our use of reinsurance and data analytics for Insurance Solutions

Accountabilities:


  • Reinsurance responsible for managing ongoing reinsurance needs and driving earnings with innovation in reinsurance. Manage risk through use of reinsurance and bring forward reinsurance solutions to manage riskreturn of our insurance products which includes looking at reinsurance structures, retention limits, recapture opportunities, etc. for new business and inforce.
  • Data Analytics leading a team that manages technology, tools, and analysis for advancing data analytics in insurance; including use of data analytics for underwriting innovation, identifying opportunities to deepen relationships with customer and advisors and identifying other opportunities. Develop a deep understanding of current and potential customers and translate that understanding into actionable insights that drive business performance.
  • Develop and maintain a strategic roadmap of reinsurance and data analytics.
  • Lead and develop a highperformance team to provide the opportunity for employees to realize their full potential while maximizing effectiveness and efficiency.

Qualifications and Competencies:


  • 810 years of experience working in the financial services industry or relevant experience
  • FSA or FCIA (Fellow of the Society of Actuaries or Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries) designation required.
  • Reinsurance and/or insurance product expertise.
  • Understands insurance earnings and key risks in order to bring forward solutions to maximize earnings and minimize risks.
  • Ability to translate complex topics into understandable solutions; ability to deal with ambiguity and flexibility of approach.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to negotiate effectively.
  • Bias to action selfmotivated, able to work independently and to identify and surmount obstacles proactively.
  • Understands the business environment and customer needs, identifies business opportunities that create competitive advantage.
  • Ability to develop highly effective longterm plans in line with the company's strategic objectives; highly adept at setting goals and determining priorities and identifying potential risks and opportunities.
  • Able to foster collaborative relationships across teams and reinsurers to facilitate cooperation.
  • Creates an environment that encourages new approaches, challenges the status quo, and inspires creativity and risktaking while protecting the core.
  • Drive innovation across Insurance Solutions to substantially grow the business.
  • Drives results and contributes to change processes that improve organizational performance and creates a culture of accountability.
  • Strong leadership skills including proven track record developing and leading high performing, diverse teams.
