Manitoba Natural Resources and Indigenous Futures is seeking highly motivated individuals interested in filling the role of District Fire Ranger(s) (FR2) in the Northern Region of Manitoba.

Duties:
The Fire Ranger 2 performs a variety of heavy and light manual duties associated with maintenance, preparedness and daily inventory control of the equipment used in the fire operations; also performs janitorial duties, and general maintenance of grounds and facilities of the assigned Wildfire Area.
Ensures the district fire equipment inventory, vehicles, supplies and caches are accounted for and maintained in serviceable condition to Provincial Standards.
Assist in organizing forest fire suppression support activities including but not limited to: arranging for support staff and lodging, ordering food, commissary, supplies, and loading/unloading of support aircraft.
Maintains detailed records of equipment inventories.Conducts work activities in accordance with Workplace Safety and Health Act Regulation.
Qualifications:
Essential:
Experience working in the outdoors doing manual labour.
Experience maintaining and servicing camp equipment, hand tools, small motors or similar outdoor equipment.
Strong Interpersonal skills.
Strong verbal communication skills.
Strong written communication skills.
Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
Ability to work as a team player.
Desired:
Experience in wildfire suppression, including use of standard firefighting equipment eg: shovel, axe, pulaski, Mk III fire pump, fire hose, chain saws.
Knowledge of Wildfire Suppression and Wildfire Suppression equipment and maintenance.
Conditions of Employment:
Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
Must be willing and physically capable to perform the duties required of the position such as lifting up to 65lbs, carrying and loading firefighting equipment, climbing stairs and working in adverse weather conditions.
Must be willing and able to work weekends, overtime, and be deployed provincially, inter-provincially, or internationally as/when required.Must possess and maintain a valid full stage Manitoba Class 5F driver's licence or equivalent. Applicant will be required to provide a Drivers in Force letter or provincial equivalent before date of hire.
Must be required to possess and maintain current first aid and CPR certification by a date acceptable to the employer.
