Your Role in a Nutshell
A Jr. level position, the People & Culture Coordinator will participate as an active member of the People & Culture team.

The Coordinator's main focus will be to ensure administrative compliance, update any of the encompassing HRIS related platforms, assist with talent acquisition process and provide administrative assistance to the People & Culture team.


This role is a 12 month contract with an opportunity to roll into a permanent position

Key Accountabilities:


  • Manage employee lifecycle from start to finish (create offer letters, initiate background checks, coordinate onboarding plans, benefits admin, coordinate offboarding);
  • Initiate the semimonthly payroll process up until final submission which includes preparing payroll summary, calculating, tracking and submitting payroll changes to the payroll provider;
  • Administer health and welfare plans, including enrollments, changes and terminations;
  • Verify monthly invoices from benefit carrier to ensure that new hires were added, terminated employees were removed and any other adjustments reflect correctly;
  • Maintain BambooHR by keeping accurate and uptodate records and report on employee data such as sick days, vacation days, to ensure accurate, timely information can be made available to management and staff;
  • Work closely with hiring managers to develop and monitor onboarding plans;
  • Assist in adhoc HR projects and support the execution of annual HR activities, including but not limited to: midyear reviews, performance reviews, etc.;
  • First point of contact for HRIS management and general employee inquiries.

Skills and Competencies:


  • Strong computer skills particularly MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) & Google Apps (Gmail, Drive, Google Calendar, etc.);
  • Experience with HRIS, Applicant Tracking and Onboarding Systems; Knowledge of BambooHR is an asset;
  • Ability to interact with all levels of the organization and has customer service orientation;
  • Strong integrity with ability to maintain confidentiality and manage highly sensitive information;
  • Highly organized with ability to prioritize multiple tasks;
  • Keen sense of urgency and strong attention to detail and accuracy;
  • Openness to learn and adapt to growth;
  • A positive attitude; Acts and leads with human sensitivity;
  • Independent delivery with the ability to work in a teamdriven environment success is measured as a team
  • Ability to hold yourself accountable for your work, regardless of the outcome, and demonstrate a genuine interest in contributing to company success;

Education and Experience:


  • Previous HR administrative experience or exposure to an HR department /environment is a must, whether a Co-Op/Internship or otherwise. Technology and or Non-ForProfit experience is considered an asset;
  • Payroll certified (PCP) is considered a nice to have and/or experience with the payroll process (desirable).
