Summary*Under the guidance of the
Banquet Manager, the
Banquet Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all aspects of a banquet or event, including set-up, food presentation, serving, and clean-up, while focusing on detail, quality presentation, and customer service.

The Banquet Supervisor is also responsible for training, coaching, and mentoring the Banquet staff.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Hold prefunction staff meetings to review functions and set up an order of servicing procedures from start to finish.
  • Schedule and coordinate the time and tasks for our banquet team
  • Supervise the cleanup after a function.
  • Check banquet functions to ensure quality guest service.
  • Update kitchen staff on the number of guests to ensure reusable food is not wasted.
  • Inspect function rooms, ensuring setup conforms to the banquet event order.
  • Respond to guest requests for special services and resolve guest problems and complaints.
  • Ensure safe working conditions in banquet areas.
  • Ensure staff are correctly and professionally dressed at all times.
  • Ensure effective briefing of waiting staff before the function commences.
  • Ensure tables are correctly set, and that table appointments are to standard
  • Ensure staff are welltrained and for a variety of functions.
  • Demonstrate a professional and positive work ethic to employees and guests at all times.
  • Strong working knowledge of hospitality industry principles, methods, practices, and techniques
  • Ability to supervise employees, including organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments
  • Able to respond quickly in a dynamic and changing environment
  • Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment.
  • Calculate and post banquet bills at the end of the function, ensuring accuracy in the recording.
  • Deliver feedback and coaching to the banquet team
  • May be required to perform other jobrelated assignments as requested.

Education, Qualification and Requirements

  • 2year minimum experience in Banquet Operation.
  • 1 year minimum of direct supervisor work experience
  • 1 to 2year Degree or Diploma; related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and direct a team
  • Willingness to learn and expand your knowledge
  • Experience in all aspects of customer service and people management
  • Guestoriented with a sincere, helpful, caring and friendly personality.
  • Attention to details, order and cleanliness
  • Exceptional energy, flexibility and professionalism
  • Effective communication skills in English (oral and written)
  • Ability to maintain composure and objectivity
  • Previous leadership experience is an asset
  • Pro Serve Certificate required
  • Protect Certificate required
  • As a condition of employment, associates are to have a criminal record check prior to their first day of work

Work Environment

  • This position is physically demanding, requiring frequent standing and walking.
  • It is typically expected to lift and carry up to 25 pounds and may occasionally have to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Occasional environmental exposures to cold, heat and water
  • Stooping, kneeling, bending, reaching and crouching are required as part of the banquet service.

Hours of Work

  • The individual must be adaptable and flexible with their time as the work hours for this position will vary depending on operational requirements. Work may include early mornings, late nights, weekend shifts, and holidays.
