Reporting to the Manager, School College Partnerships, the incumbent develops and delivers courses in the Dual Credit program.
Courses may be scheduled and delivered during the day or evening and are planned to be delivered in person at the Barrie campus.
Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
- Delivers the
FITN100 - Introduction to Health and Fitness course in the Dual Credit program
Course themes include:
the dimensions of health, fitness, behaviour modification, community wellness and professionalism. Students assess their personal wellness and set fitness goals.
The role of fitness and health professionals in promoting community wellness is discussed and students learn about the many organizations, resources and business opportunities that exist in the industry.
Barrie Thursdays 10:00 am - 1:00 pm February 15 to May 23 (excluding March 14)
- Develops and delivers appropriate curriculum to meet course objectives
- Incorporates a variety of teaching / learning strategies to meet student needs
- Evaluates student progress / achievement
- Participates in program and college activities as required
- Participates in program revisions and renewal activities as required
- Creates and maintains a positive learning environment
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Successfully completed an undergraduate degree in Kinesiology or relevant field
- Minimum three years' industry related experience
- At least one of the following up to date industry certifications:
- CSEP, CSCA, CanFitPro, Ontario Fitness Council, CPTN, NSCA, OKA CK
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to lifelong learning
- Proven ability to work in a team environment and to foster the same in students
- Demonstrated ability to work with diverse student populations
- Experience in some or all of the following is an asset: curriculum development, a variety of delivery strategies, adult learning methodologies, academic advising, and student success strategies
- Teaching and Training Adults certification and / or experience in a teaching or training capacity is an asset
Acceptable proof of education (degrees, credentials) from recognized post-secondary institutions or confirmation of international equivalencies will be required as part of the selection process.
