Position Available:
Instructional Design and E-Learning Specialist

Position Status: 0.5 FTE - Permanent Part-time, Non-union

Location: 5310 Explorer Drive, Mississauga or Location within Ontario

Reporting To:
Manager, Program Design, Evaluation and Academic Innovation

Position Summary:


The Instructional Designer and E-Learning Specialist will be a vital contributor to the development and implementation of innovative e-learning solutions for all business units at Ornge with a heavy focus on aviation and paramedic education.

This role involves creating engaging and effective digital learning experiences and administering learning management systems (LMS) along with related technologies.


Key Responsibilities:

Design and Development:
Craft interactive and pedagogically sound e-learning content using various techniques and authoring tools. Develop SCORM-compliant courses that integrate multimedia elements, interactive activities, and assessments.


Technology Integration:

Utilize a range of technologies like Articulate 360 (including Storyline and Rise), Camtasia, Vyond and other relevant tools to create diverse learning experiences.


LMS Administration:

Support the LMS team to manage and administer the learning management system, ensuring optimal functionality, user access, and content organization.


Evaluation and Improvement:
Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of e-learning courses, making necessary adjustments to enhance learning outcomes.


Technical Support:
Offer technical support and guidance to learners and instructors using the LMS and e-learning courses.


Required Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience in instructional design and elearning development.
  • Proficiency in elearning authoring tools such as Articulate 360 (Including Storyline and Rise), Camtasia, Vyond and others.
  • Experience in SCORM package development and implementation.
  • Knowledge of LMS administration and support
  • Strong understanding of instructional design theories and elearning methodologies
  • Excellent oral and written English language communication skills, including writing and editing.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in instructional design, educational technology, adult education or a related field.
  • Master's Degree is an asset
  • Project and time management skillsmanaging multiple priorities;
  • Demonstrated instructional design and development skills including needs analysis, and systematic instructional design processes, graphic design and visual support, evaluation, and impact assessment;
  • Strong interpersonal, influencing and negotiating skills in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, Training and Development, or related field;
  • Ability to quickly learn new computer programs and to troubleshoot software and programming problems;
