The
Advanced Works Construction Manager for the Ontario Line project is responsible for the organization and direction of construction personnel.

Responsible for the coordination of activities relating to construction, contracts management, and engineering including liaison with the engineering group for a specified package of works.

Interprets design drawings and specifications. Supervises field verification of materials.

Provides operational direction to field specialists and supervision in a wide range of construction engineering and design functions relating to multi-discipline engineering in an area.

Duties & Responsibilities include:


  • Coordinates with engineering on constructability and design issues. Assists in establishing a Design/Field Engineering working relationship and lines of communication with the Engineer of Record (EoR) including agreement on engineering deliverables. Responsible for quantity takeoff, control, reporting and forecasting.
  • Participate in tender production and preconstruction/preaward meetings to address technical or construction related questions, working with the Technical Advisor (TA), provide recommendations to the client in considering and analyzing possible procurement and means and methods for constructing various elements of the Construction Project.
  • Ensure that safety and creation as well as maintenance of a safe workplace and environment is the primary consideration and first priority in the delivery of all work.
  • Conduct thorough constructability reviews of detailed design and construction packages prepared by the TA. Constructability review reports shall identify project risks and provide recommendations to mitigate project risks.
  • Coordinates the preparation of cost reports, forecast and progress reports.
  • Coordinates with the superintendents and contractors to plan construction schedules.
  • Coordinates with the Planner to review the Contractor's programs for acceptance.
  • Monitors the Contractor's quality assurance activities to ensure materials and equipment comply with design plans and specifications.
  • Works with customer's engineering and operating personnel to coordinate construction activities.
  • Implements controls over variables affecting job progress to ensure engineering and procurement provide timely delivery of drawings, materials and equipment and to ensure that other corporate programs are fully utilized.

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor Degree from an accredited university as well as a minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience, or 21 years relevant experience in the absence of a degree
  • Successful Construction Management track record on a major multidisciplinary project
  • Demonstrated technical writing, data management, verbal communication, presentation, and teaching skills.
  • Experience working with teams and stakeholders in the development and delivery of large infrastructure projects. Ability to communicate across technical disciplines (engineering, construction, operations, maintenance).
  • Has knowledge of construction activities as they relate to engineering disciplines, cost and scheduling, and contract administration.
  • Knowledge of the use of subcontracts; knowledge of the contractor/subcontractor's responsibilities contained in subcontract documents.
  • Prior experience supervising and administering contractors.
