Purchasing Logistics Coordinator

Job Summary:

This position is responsible for planning and executing all aspects of purchasing products and services for Tecvalco.

This includes being responsible for handling all logistics of inbound and outbound shipments for all locations across Canada and the US; for ensuring customer satisfaction regarding current stock and lead times on incoming shipments; and for relaying important information about stock levels, and lead time to the Supply Chain Manager so that discretionary decisions can be made regarding filling customer orders.


Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities:


  • Create POs
  • Review the invoice and resolve discrepancies when receiving items
  • Contact vendors for pricing, availability and lead times
  • Update freight rates for incoming and outbound shipments
  • Work with 3rd party agencies on international customs and freight logistics
  • Review open purchase orders and communicate with vendors on overdue shipments
  • Perform purchasing analysis
  • Resolve receiving error issues
  • Resolve transport issues regarding short shipments, damaged and missing shipments
  • Maintain supplier files by keeping them complete and up to date
  • Maintain stock to desired sales forecast
  • Source and research new vendors
  • Review and verify past due PO reports and contact suppliers to address overdue POs.
  • Develop relationships with suppliers in order to resolve delivery and quality concerns
  • Determine the amount and type of shipments due, both inbound and outbound for all facilities
  • Coordinate the logistics of both inbound and outbound freight, obtain and analyze quotes and update POs with current delivery information
  • Maintain effective liaison with vendors to ensure timely delivery of shipments
  • Track, trace and update the status of shipments on a daily basis utilizing ERP system
  • Create and monitor freight reports on a regular basis
  • Check the accuracy of freight packaging, ensuring that all packing and transfer slips are available
  • Monitor any layaway or return procedures to ensure accuracy
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Post secondary education in purchasing management, supply chain management or business administration, or in a relevant field; or five to seven years of relevant professional experience.
  • A certificate in purchasing from the Purchasing Management Association of Canada is preferred
  • Proven experience as a purchasing agent or relevant role
  • Demonstrable experience in negotiating prices and terms and conditions
  • Knowledge of market research, data analysis and purchasing best practices
  • Knowledge of customer service principals and basic business practices
  • Production/manufacturing experience preferred
  • Professional and friendly demeanour at all times
  • Team player within multidisciplined team
  • Strong organizational skill set
  • Experience in crossfunctional team
