To support us on our journey, Sinai Health is looking for an experienced human resources professional to support its Workforce Planning Team as a Human Resources Specialist.


Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, Workforce Planning (WFP) the Human Resources Specialist will be responsible for the full-cycle recruitment and selection of a diverse portfolio including union and non-union opportunities across Sinai Health System.

With a strong background in strategic talent acquisition, the Human Resources Specialist will establish proactive recruitment strategies by working closely with clients to determine staffing approaches that align with organizational objectives.


The Human Resources Specialist will provide advice, direction and counselling to clients, the HR team and other employees about relevant recruitment and human resource policies and procedures, ensuring that Sinai Health System complies with legislation, collective agreements and policies.


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Identify and source top talent for open positions and maintain a pipeline for future opportunities
  • Collaborate with hiring managers to refine job profiles and ensure job requirements are clearly defined
  • Build relationships with external stakeholders e.g. peer institutions, universities and colleges to keep pace with emerging market trends; participate in related committees and outreach programs as required
  • Improve operational efficiency by identifying and recommending quality improvement opportunities, new policies, practices, etc.
  • Create crosssite portfolio reports and provide internal clients with adhoc data for use in statistical analysis, strategic planning, internal/external surveys, etc.
  • In collaboration with the Manager, Workforce Planning, participate in special projects and assignments related to talent management as required
  • Performs other duties as assigned


  • Job Requirements

  • Successful completion of a bachelor's degree preferably in human resources, industrial relations, business or a related field from an accredited educational institution
  • A minimum of three (3) years of recent human resources experience
  • Applicants with proven equivalent recent and related training and experience may be considered
  • Experience in a large, complex unionized environment preferred; healthcare experience a definite asset
  • Certified Human Resources Professional/Leader designation preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook); experience in MS Project a definite asset
  • Experience using human resource information systems and applicant tracking systems
  • Must be discreet and demonstrate sound judgment, analytical ability, diplomacy and tact to deal effectively with all levels in the organization, especially when dealing with sensitive issues
  • Exceptional interpersonal, consultative, relationship building and conflict management skills to interact effectively with various stakeholders and problem solve issues
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize competing demands and changing priorities while maintaining high degree of accuracy and customer service
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the proven ability to clearly define and articulate requirements, priorities, impacts, and solutions
  • Ability to facilitate small group discussions, develop and deliver training and make presentations
  • Demonstrated satisfactory work performance and attendance history
