    JOB SUMMARY:

    The Production Planning Specialist (PPS) works in conjunction with the rest of the Planning team, Procurement and Manufacturing to meet customer delivery schedule(s).

    The PPS will help coordinate the flow of work and materials on the production floor in concurrence with the production and material requirement/supply plans - expediting and escalating issues as required.

    Supporting duties include the review and distribution of production jobs, coordinating with manufacturing supervisors and operators to determine the progress of work and confirm job completion dates in order to maintain ERP system accuracy.

    The PPS will manage cycle counts, help resolve material variance issues, generate production reports, and perform analyses to identify issues and drive process improvements.


    The PPS also serves as backup to the Master Scheduler and the Planning & Procurement Specialist


    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Releasing shop floor jobs and associated job documents (traveler) based on MRP suggestions
    • Managing due dates, and monitoring/providing status of all shop floor jobs
    • Ongoing maintenance of Work in Progress inventory accuracy
    a) Maintenance of work order material allocation for related part and BOM changes to ensure MRP is not incorrectly affected
    b) Review and report significant labour variances to Supply Chain and Manufacturing management to help identify potential standard labour hour inaccuracies.

    • Stage Work Order releases on Visual Management Boards in priority, and update if/as required.
    • Track WIP status, perform WIP counts per procedure, and communicate significant production delays or part shortages to Production Program Manager for assessment regarding impact to customer deliveries (both Original Equipment, and Repair & Overhaul requirements).
    • Reviewing alternates and changes from Part Qualification Reports (PQRs), Engineering Parts List, Non-Incorporated Engineering Orders (NIEO's) and Engineering Orders and update systems/databases as required.
    • Work with Manufacturing and Process Specialists to track open NIEO's (on the production floor.
    • Daily review of Job Completions to ensure accuracy and to identify and action material variances as required. Escalate significant or unresolvable variances.
    • Daily review of Jobs eligible for completion, but not completed for correction if/as required.
    • Daily review of Jobs eligible for financial closure. Action and/or escalate jobs that cannot be closed. Track highlevel root cause of closure issues and report process improvement opportunities.
    • Assist with generating Measures of Performance (MOPs) reports for operational standard review on a monthly basis or as required (WO OTD, Scrap).
    • Work with Material Handlers (Stores) to resolve inventory inaccuracies.
    • Work with material Handlers to prioritize work order kitting and Incoming Quality Control (IQC) priorities.

    Complementary Description


    Track Quarantine material (assemblies only), and work with Production Supervisors and Process Specialists to disposition the inventory.

    • Enter inventory adjustments in to ERP system per current work instructions, and provide root cause information as required.
    • Generation of Monthly Cycle Count Part Selection, monitor Cycle Count activities as performed by Stores personnel.
    • Prepare serialized assembly count sheets for yearend inventory requirements.
    • Backup for Master Scheduler.
    • Backup for Planning & Procurement Specialist.
    • Other duties as assigned by direct supervisor.

    Job Requirements



    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • APICS CPIM (or similar Production Control certification), or equivalent experience in Production Scheduling and Inventory Control.
    • 3 years of experience in Manufacturing Environment, preferably electronics and/or Aerospace 5 years or more preferred.
    • ERP/MRP experience
    • Knowledge of Production control techniques for minimizing inventory and maximizing effective manufacturing of subassemblies and finished goods.
    • Excellent Interpersonal Skills; knowledge of principles and processes for providing internal and external customer service.
    • Proficient in the MS Office Suite; inclusive of file management and form design.
