Position Scope

The General Labourer role supports the Technology Development team. Major responsibilities include mechanical disassembly, general housekeeping, site cleaning & organization of equipment and consumables. This is a demanding physical "hands-on" position requiring strength and stamina, manual dexterity and a strong work ethic.

This role is based in Squamish, British Columbia.

This position is a temporary full-time position available for a 6 month contract. The work schedule follows a M-F, 8 am to 4:30 pm 40hrs/week schedule.


Responsibilities:

Disassembly - Helping the team safely and efficiently dismantle an industrial plant

Site Organization - Keeping storage areas organized and tidy, hoses and cables hung up neatly, pipe fittings and other consumables labelled and tidy.

The site, equipment and consumables constantly prepared for operational readiness on a 24/7 basis.

Engineer and maintenance support - Helping the teams deal with equipment outages which may require emptying and cleaning conveyers, hoppers, and other equipment.

General housekeeping - responsible for keeping the CEIC and CEPP sites clean. Picking up garbage, cleaning up spills, emptying garbage cans into dumpsters, etc.
Equipment readiness - have all support equipment cleaned and ready to be used - vacuums, pumps & hoses, etc.
Basic Data Entry of completed tasks into computer management system
Other tasks as directed by your supervisor

Technical

Able to lift 50lbs
Able to take direction/follow instructions
Organize their work schedule to ensure all tasks are completed

Safety

Champion a positive safety culture.
Identify, report and resolve unsafe conditions, processes or actions within the workplace.
Ensure that all safety related incidents, accidents and near misses are reported and investigated in line with company policy.

Education, Experience and Key Competencies

Education

Grade 12 preferred

Experience

Labour experience in an industrial setting
Knowledge of safe industrial work practices
Mechanical knowledge and experience (experience with basic and hand power tools)
Forklift and aerial lift experience and training desirable
LOTO experience desirable

Key Competencies

Highly responsible, and capable of performing duties with mínimal supervision
Independent and able to function working alone or with a team
Able to function in a dynamic environment and adapt to reactive scope of work
Physical role that involves working both within an industrial plant and outdoor site in all weather elements.
Strong verbal and written English communication skills
Strong sense of cleanliness, order, initiative, teamwork, and operational readiness.
