Emergency preparedness is a critical aspect of CCH operations. It is essential that all staff and physicians receive training and understand their roles and responsibilities in this field.


Summary of responsibilities:


The Personal Support Worker is responsible for providing direct and indirect activities that support the overall provision of nursing care on the nursing units as well as embody a culture of caregiver inclusion in the patient's plan of care.

This also includes one-on-one care to patients as required.


Requirements of the job:


  • Graduate of a Personal Support Worker Program from a Community College
  • Holds current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support
  • Demonstrated ability to work with patients with dementia or cognitive impairments
  • Demonstrated knowledge and practice of good body mechanics
  • Good listening skills
  • Ability to understand, interpret and carry out written or verbal instructions
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a member of the multidisciplinary team
  • Proven ability to work with mínimal supervision
  • Demonstrated commitment to patient safety
  • Demonstrated regular, punctual attendance
  • Functional proficiency in English (oral and written)
  • Limited proficiency in oral French and testing completed
