    Overview

    This position will be for a part time role as a General Labour. There will also be opportunities to train as a Quality Control Technician and as a Syrup Maker in the QC department. The rate you are paid will change based on the specific role you are in.

    6 Part-Time (Sunday 2:30pm-11:00pm, Tuesday 2:30pm-11:00pm, Friday 2:30pm-11:00pm)

    Responsibilities

    General Labour:

    This position will be responsible for picking orders, building transport, conventional and bulk loads, while operating a walkie rider in a safe and efficient manner. Other responsibilities include completing required documentation, stripping and loading trucks, washing and checking trucks, general housekeeping duties, and other duties as assigned.

    Syrup Maker:

    This position will be responsible for preparing and mixing syrups for production as required with an emphasis on Quality and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs). Other responsibilities include testing syrups, product and water to ensure specifications are met, receiving inventory of concentrate and sweetener. The Syrup Maker is also responsible for cleaning and sanitizing equipment along with filling equipment, carbo-coolers, tanks and piping. Maintaining the water treatment system, including back-washing sand/gravel filters, ion regeneration, carbon streaming and monitor water quality.

    Quality Control Technician:

    This position will be responsible for performing analytical and microbiological testing to ensure quality and safety of products by monitoring and adjusting blending equipment to target specifications. Responsibilities include maintaining, calibrating and troubleshooting all laboratory equipment. This technician will also be responsible for preparing and mixing syrups for production as required with an emphasis on Quality and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs). Other responsibilities include receiving inventory of concentrate and sweetener, cleaning and sanitizing equipment including: filling equipment, carbo-coolers, tanks and piping. Maintaining the water treatment system, including back-washing sand/gravel filters, ion regeneration, carbon streaming and monitor water quality.

    Qualifications

    General Labour:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be able to read and write English
  • Basic computer skills
  • Basic mathematical skills (accountable for accurate load information)
  • Ability to work shift work (evenings/afternoons/weekends)
  • Problem-solving skills along with the ability to troubleshoot and make adjustments as necessary
  • Results oriented individual with the ability to load product in a manner that maximizes merchandiser efficiency, meets safety standards and maximizes available space
  • Team player who shows initiative, reliability and flexibility
  • Syrup Maker:

  • High school diploma or equivalent. A post-secondary education is preferred.
  • Strong mathematical skills
  • Must be able to read and write English as there is a strong possibility of injury to self or others due to nature of work
  • Cost exposure to the company is greater than $1,000
  • Must be able to multi-task
  • Minimum of one year previous exposure to water treatment systems is a requirement
  • Ability to work shift work and flexible to work all different shifts depending on shift availability (days/evenings/afternoons/weekends)
  • Problem-solving skills along with the ability to troubleshoot and make adjustments as necessary
  • Team player who shows initiative, reliability, and flexibility
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Must pass assessments
  • Quality Control Technician:

  • High school diploma or equivalent. A post-secondary education is preferred.
  • Basic computer skills. Some data entry may be required.
  • Strong mathematical skills
  • Must be able to read and write English as there is a strong possibility of injury to self or others due to nature of work
  • Must be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Minimum of one year previous exposure to QC Lab equipment and water treatment systems is preferred
  • Ability to work shift work (evenings/afternoons/weekends)
  • Problem-solving skills along with the ability to troubleshoot and make adjustments as necessary
  • Team player who shows initiative, reliability, and flexibility

    General Labour:

  • Frequently lifting/carrying a maximum of 50 lbs
  • Occasionally pushing/pulling/lifting a maximum of 100 lbs. (with the aid of a mechanical device)
  • Frequent bending and reaching above the shoulder
  • Syrup Maker:

  • Frequently lifting/carrying a maximum of 80 lbs
  • Occasionally pushing/pulling/lifting a maximum of 400 lbs. (with the aid of a mechanical device)
  • Frequent bending and reaching above the shoulder
  • Quality Control Technician:

  • Frequently lifting/carrying a maximum of 80 lbs
  • Occasionally pushing/pulling/lifting a maximum of 400 lbs. (with the aid of a mechanical device)

  • In filling permanent vacancies or new positions within the bargaining unit the following factors will be considered:

    (b) qualifications, skill and ability

    Where competing applicants are able to perform the normal functions of the job, the most senior employee who applied shall be selected. It shall be the policy of the Company that in filling permanent vacancies or new positions current employees who submit applications will be given priority over temporary employees or outside applicants.
