Reporting to the Manager, Health Sciences Library, the Clinical Librarian strengthens and enables the hospital's evidence-based practice culture in care, teaching and research by designing leading-edge health information literacy programs for a multi-disciplinary/multi-site clinical client base, by providing advanced literature search services/consultation, and by ensuring the overall quality of health sciences library services within and across clinical programs.

In collaboration with the Manager, academic and regional partners, this position is responsible for the research, development, implementation and evaluation of a broad range of practices and initiatives.

In a multi-organizational team environment, the incumbent participates in collection development, health sciences library system management and program planning.

In addition, the Clinical Librarian is an advocate of emerging health knowledge needs in the hospital setting, is a leader in clinical librarianship guidelines and practices and is an integral partner in regional initiatives (Western Ontario Health Knowledge Network practice teams) and in provincial planning and reporting (e.g.

Cancer Care Ontario Virtual Library evaluation and system administration; MLA Standards-Self Assessment Survey).

$39.92 per hour - $49.89 per hours

Qualifications:


  • Masters Degree in Library & Information Science from an American Library Associationaccredited program
  • Membership in Canadian Health Library Association and Membership in Academy of Health Information Professionals preferred
  • Minimum two years recent, related experience; preferably in a hospital or academic health sciences setting
  • Advanced excellence in providing literature searching and search strategy development in an multidisciplinary clinical setting, preferably in a teaching hospital or academic health sciences context
  • Advanced technical ability in using various health sciences database interfaces and indepth understanding of indexing principles.
  • Skilled in the critical appraisal, analysis and synthesis of search results
  • Demonstrated success in consultation, coaching and knowledge transfer
  • Proficient in the design, delivery and evaluation of various education/ instruction approaches for both individual and group contexts in the clinical setting
  • Advanced understanding of the role and purpose of clinical/medical librarianship in the hospital setting
  • Advanced interpersonal, communication (both written and oral) and relationship building skills
  • Advanced time management, organization skills; ability to manage multiple tasks with similar deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability in problem solving and decision making
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to the principles of patient and family centered care
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to LHSC's Mission, Vision and Values
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis

Immunization Requirements:


  • Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps, rubella and varicella (chicken pox), Hepatitis B, Tetanus/ Diphtheria/Polio; Meningitis.
  • Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing (two step) and COVID vaccine series.
