About our Destination Development & Marketing Group


The Destination Development & Marketing Group is focused on driving sustainable year-round visitation through program and initiatives that positively impact Edmonton's image and awareness in regional and international markets.

More specifically on the destination development side, we help develop and showcase the amazing tourism experiences Edmonton has to offer visitors.

We work closely with local businesses, ground operators, attractions, experience providers and festivals to help develop products and experiences that are authentic to Edmonton.


About the Position:

The Destination Development and Marketing team is looking for a
Social Media Engagement Specialist.


At Explore Edmonton, our Destination Development & Marketing team plays a crucial role in supporting Edmonton's economy by promoting the region's tourism industry and enhancing its positive recognition in the market.

Our Global Marketing team, in particular, is dedicated to inspiring travelers to explore Edmonton through captivating content, stunning visuals, and compelling stories.

We work in collaboration with industry leaders to showcase attractions, experiences, festivals, major events, and our vibrant culinary scene, making Edmonton a top destination for travelers.


As the Social Media Engagement Specialist, you will be the online voice of all Explore Edmonton's consumer-facing social media channels.

Your primary focus will be to engage with visitors and the community, encouraging them to experience additional attractions, events, and activities, resulting in extended stays, economic impact, return visits, and recommendations to others.


This position will report to the Manager, Digital Marketing, and work closely with the Marketing team members (specifically the Social Media Engagement Specialist (CIA & Venues) to align social media efforts with broader marketing strategies.

This position will also work closely with the Marketing Account Manager, Consumer, as they manage relationships and support Edmonton's many events, attractions, festivals & experiences.

  • Managing and curating content for Explore Edmonton's social media channels to maintain an engaging online presence.
  • Leading online engagement with event attendees, visitors, stakeholders, and locals to foster meaningful connections with the community.
  • Monitoring social media platforms, respond to inquiries, comments, and messages promptly and professionally.
  • Serving as the social media communications conduit between Explore Edmonton and Edmonton's tourism industry.
  • Collecting and analyzing social media analytics, conduct trends research, and optimize social campaigns for maximum impact.
  • Leading scheduling, posting, and monitoring of social media content across consumerfocused channels.
  • Executing both organic & paid social media strategies in collaboration with the Digital Marketing Manager, including Whitelisting.
  • Developing and maintaining robust social media style guides, ensuring content, captions, and engagement align with our brand standards.
  • Conducting social media trends research to stay ahead of the curve.
  • Leading social content strategy & asset acquisition, including usergenerated content.
  • Conceptualizing, capturing, and editing shortform video & photo content for social media platforms (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Twitter).
