We are seeking an Environmental Services Research Analyst to work in Generation Environment Services Department. Under the
general direction of the Strategic Environmental Initiatives Section Head, this position will be a key member of an interdisciplinary
team providing high-quality environmental support for key enterprise initiatives. This position will assist in the development and
implementation of environmental impact and risk control programs. This position will be required to interact with MH staff at all levels
as well as government regulatory authorities, external environmental practitioners, academic institutions, and interested parties in
general. This is a 14-months term position with full-time hours





NOTE:
THIS POSITION REQUIRES AUTHORIZED ACCESS TO CRITICAL PHYSICAL AND/OR CYBER ASSETS. A


PERSONNEL RISK ASSESSMENT AND CLEARANCE IS REQUIRED.

_ Responsibilities:
_


  • Research, compile, analyze, and report technical data and information to be used in monitoring and evaluation of
environmental impact, risk, generation legacy sites, licence renewals and other regulatory issues.

  • Participate in environmentrelated assessments of generation facilities and associated sites to review compliance with
relevant provincial and federal environmental regulations, approvals, and policies.

  • Research and compile historical files on past hydroelectric generation projects to develop postconstruction reports to guide
investigations of potentially contaminated legacy sites.

  • Compile and incorporate environmental information into prioritization process for potentially contaminated sites and legacy
sites.

  • Research and compile historical and current environmental information on existing hydroelectric generating stations in MH's
system for use in Water Power Act licensing processes.

  • Prepare materials for Water Power Act licensing processes including internal documents, briefing notes, presentations for
internal stakeholders, external regulators and interested parties.

  • Provide research and communication support to other sections in the department on topics related to environmental
screening, environmental monitoring, and regulatory permitting and compliance, among others.

  • Prepare and deliver written and verbal presentations regarding environmental research, evaluation of environmental impact
and risk to Manitoba Hydro staff and management on various other issues and projects.


_ Qualifications:
_


  • A fouryear related degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, or Environmental Studies from a
University of recognized standing plus a minimum of one year directly related experience
OR

  • A two year diploma in an environmental field (e.g., Environmental Protection, Environmental Technology, Remediation) plus a
minimum of three years directly related experience.

  • Demonstrated ability to locate, assess, and summarize information from technical reports, scientific literature, engineering
drawings, and sketches.

  • Demonstrated ability to understand and interpret environmental legislation.
  • Working knowledge of environmental standards, guidelines, objectives, and criteria pertinent to environmental assessment

- and protection.
  • Familiarity with SharePoint.
  • Familiarity with hydraulic, thermal, and control structure generating facilities.
  • Willingness to work in a variety of environments including office, generating stations, construction sites, wilderness, or other

- field locations.
  • Amenable to work assignments requiring absences from a home base for a period of time.
  • Strong initiative, organized style, and capable of working productively and independently with minimum supervision.
  • Possess a valid Province of Manitoba Class 5 Driver's Licence.

_ Salary Range_
Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The range for the classification is $31.31-$43.31 Hourly,
$59,998.64-$82,986.80 Annually.
