The opportunity
The YEGAmbassadors program is looking to hire an ambassador position. The Ambassadors connect with small businesses, citizens and visitors to local resources, services and events.

A bit about us


The YEGAmbassadors Program is a partnership between REACH Safety Council of Edmonton, the City of Edmonton and the North Edge Business Association in Edmonton core.

The YEGAmbassadors support the efforts of small Edmonton BIAs in building safe and thriving businesses.

By having a visible and identifiable presence in the community, the YEGAmbassador program helps:


  • Increase community safety and wellbeing
  • Develop the area into a destination
  • Promote cultural and ethnic business diversity
  • Assist sustainable stewardship for the area
  • Equip businesses with the information and tools required to succeed

A bit about the communities we work with
The YEGAmbassador program conducts its work supporting BIAs and businesses in Edmonton's commercial districts.

While BIAs and businesses are our primary focus, ambassadors help connect them to broader community stakeholders including social agencies, community leagues, enforcement agencies and city departments.


The work of the YEGAmbassadors is embedded in diverse communities, and therefore the program strives to reflect the uniqueness of these communities in language, culture, identity, ability, and experiences.

We connect with all members of the local community including newcomers and underrepresented and vulnerable groups.

We are seeking Ambassadors who can not only engage and communicate effectively with these groups but also build relationship with them and among various stakeholders in local communities.


Job Duties

  • Conduct environmental scanning in the designated Business Improvement Areas (BIAs) to collect data using apps/devices provided.
  • Act as "eyes on the street" in the BIAs the program serves to inform local community needs.
  • Extensive walking in a variety of weather conditions
  • Connect Edmontonian and visitors to local area events and businesses throughout the year.
  • Assist in connecting businesses, individuals, community groups/agencies with resources and services provided by the City of Edmonton and other levels of governments and organizations.
  • Help strengthen and build relationships between business and social agencies and work proactively together towards prevention and intervention of social issues and challenges identified.
  • Contribute to event organizing and support local businesses, social agencies and other community organizations to build a strong, inclusive and diverse local community.

The YEGAmbassadors Program is committed to providing a safe and healthy workplace for all program employees. It is also committed to compliance with all government agencies, regulations, and industry best practices.

The YEGAmbassadors Program holds its staff accountable for following safe work procedures and reporting unsafe acts and safety incidents. We will ensure timely follow-up to safety incidents.

Desired Level of Education
Post-secondary business or marketing related fields, or human services


Qualifications and Skills

  • Able to walk for long periods of time throughout the day in all weathers
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work with diverse cultural groups of all ages, and a commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion.
  • Care about people and businesses in local community and is willing to contribute to the vibrancy and prosperity of Edmonton core areas.
  • Proficiency in time management, goals and objectives setting, and priority setting
  • Able to work independently and selfmotivated and as a team member
  • Understanding of community safety and crime prevention practice
  • Able to work flexible hours and weekends
  • Experience in coordinating events and programs is an asset
  • Received First Aid and CPR training or is willing to obtain certificate
  • Strong organization skills, attention to details and a fast learner
