Summary:
LINK 427 General Partnership is a joint venture responsible for designing, building, financing and operating/maintaining the 427 Expansion project.


This full-time permanent position involves summer and winter patrolling duties, Emergency Response & performing routine maintenance operations in accordance with the LINK 427 Project Agreement and Ministry of Transportation requirements.


As a Lead hand, You Will:

  • Act as a point of contact for MTO Authorities and staff in emergencies
  • Prioritize, organize and allocate tasks to Patrollers, Operators and Core staff
  • Communicate with authorities on site and liaise with MTO central dispatch to ensure adequate resources are available to maintain public safety on the highways during adverse conditions
  • Provide traffic control at the accident scene
  • Respond to emergencies such as spills, accidents etc. and assist in implementing an emergency plan as needed
  • Assist in identifying deficiencies by regular daily patrols of highways and notify the Foreperson as required
  • Perform repairs to the highway and inspections as a lead member of the works crew
  • Complete diary, daily electronic timesheets, and various paperwork
  • Call out and monitor winter operations
  • Conduct regular tailgate talks with the staff to review safe operating policies and practices
  • Other duties as assigned

What You'll Bring:


  • Valid DZ License with clean driver's abstract, required
  • Ability to operate a variety of equipment
  • Knowledge of OTM Book 7 traffic control, considered an asset
  • Strong Interpersonal skills
  • Basic computer knowledge
  • Effective team player
  • Willingness and flexibility to work assigned shifts based on business needs
  • Ability to remain on call after hours/shift coverage days/nights/weekends included
  • Strong knowledge of highway maintenance considered an asset
  • Winter operations and storm management experience considered an asset
  • Ability to perform manual labour and lift pounds
  • Willingness to work and drive outside in inclement weather conditions
