Description

John Howard Society of Toronto delivers a psycho-educational program to individuals convicted or found guilty of a criminal offence against a current or former partner, as well as information and support to the victims of these crimes.

The program has two primary goals:
to enhance safety and to increase offender accountability


Position:
Female PAR Facilitator


Function:
The purpose of this position is to co-facilitate group sessions.


Responsible to:
PAR Team Leader




Schedule:
Mondays, Tuesdays & Friday, 12 hours per week - evening hours required.


Responsibilities and Authority:


  • To provide domestic violence counseling to clients in our PAR Program
  • To cofacilitate group program (Inperson and Zoom platform depending on pandemic restrictions)
  • To identify and assess the needs of clients in order to develop an appropriate plan of care
  • To provide ongoing assistance and counseling to address the client's needs
  • To complete needs assessments, progress and completion reports
  • To collect fees for PAR groups securely and maintain client files to agency standard
  • To provide services through oneonone counseling as well as group counseling.
  • To conduct outreach to other community agencies to enhance service delivery and for purposes of establishing partnerships in areas specific to client needs
  • To refer clients to other community agencies, institutions, services, legal aid etc. as appropriate
  • To maintain followup with clients wherever practicable
  • To assist agency in program development through identification of service gaps
  • To ensure that services delivered are efficient and effective through evaluation techniques
  • To participate in agency/staff committees i.e. strategic planning, multicultural etc. to enhance agency's ability to deliver services
  • To assist in maintaining accessible, relevant, responsive and quality services

QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Community college diploma and/or B.A. degree in related discipline plus related experience or a combination of experience and advance training.
  • Minimum of two (2) years in criminal justice field.
  • Minimum of two (2) years employment history providing Domestic Violence Programs
  • Minimum of three (3) years of group facilitation.
  • Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Knowledge of community resources an asset.
  • Knowledge of Anti-Oppressive Framework
  • Experience in community outreach.
  • Ability to work in a team setting.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Criminal Record clearance required
