Our Team:


The Copper Cliff Mine Complex Team is integral to the success of the operation in becoming a safe, predictable, and reliable producer.

The role will oversee Operations activities and will work closely with other Process Superintendents to ensure that the Operations activities are on track with Copper Cliff Mine Complex.


The Opportunity
We are currently seeking an
Operations Superintendent Process II
to join our Copper Cliff Mine Complex
in Sudbury, Ontario. This is a permanent **position.


Reporting to the Mine Manager, the Operations Superintendent's primary purpose is to implement, manage and coordinate continuous improvement, corporate and strategic projects.

You will be a key member of the team, who will be fully integrated with the operating and maintenance superintendents.

The position will allow opportunities to strategically improve the safe and efficient production at Copper Cliff Mine Complex.


In this position you will:

  • Audit and analyze systems within the area(s) of accountability to achieve the following outputs:
  • Zero harm to employees, the business, the environment, and the community,
  • Provide the required direction and change management skills to develop and implement the required tactical and strategic projects to attain the required
  • All projects must focus on improving business systems and processes and aligning best practices to improve safety, quality, production, and cost performance in the short and long term. Ensuring all activities follow VPS (Vale Production System).
  • Audit and analyze KPIs and trends in safety, maintenance, cost, quality, and schedule compliance.
  • Develop and implement actions to address common cause variances or continuous improvement opportunities, with a focus on optimal resource allocation while meeting the quantity and quality output requirements of the crews.
  • Be a key driver in change management, working with crews, supervisors, and superintendents to implement projects and reinforce the correct processes and projects and champion Vale values
  • Provide performance feedback to team members, coach, and counsel employees on the standards of behaviour, and take corrective action as required.
  • Contribute to the implementation of new systems/processes and provide guidance, auditing, mentoring and analysis support to the management team.
  • Work with the HSE Committee to develop actions to improve safety, health and environmental performance and verify compliance with established Service Level Agreements (SLA) and required standards.

About You

Education**:

  • Strong knowledge and experience in underground mine operations.
  • Mine Technologist or Mine Engineering Degree

Experience:


  • Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience and 10 years of mining experience

Skills:


  • Must have strong organization and time leadership skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of SAP functionality.
  • High initiative and can selfdirect to accomplish goals with minimum supervision.
  • Robust oral and written communication skills.
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
  • Strong drive for results.
  • High level of confidence speaking to crews and supervisors.
