1 ‐ Full Time‐ First Cook

Nutrition and Food Services
This position will involve working the Days shifts. The shift is not to be interpreted as a guarantee.

As the First Cook, you will be responsible for overseeing the food production within our Cook‐Chill/Cook‐Serve Food

Production system. You will follow standardized recipes and be expected to adhere to and maintain high levels of

Food Safety and Health & Safety practices, as well as follow organizational policies and procedures. You will oversee

Food Quality standards to ensure high level standards are adhered to, and maintained throughout day‐to‐day

knowledge and understanding of the food service industry.


Job Requirements:

  • Minimum completion of Grade Twelve
  • Completion of an Approved Cook's Training Course with Red Seal Certification, or a demonstrated ability to meet
the requirements of the job with past relevant work experience

  • High level knowledge and understanding of the HACCP program/standards is essential
  • Current Safe Food Handling Certification is required
  • Five Years experience working in a large quantity kitchen would be an asset
  • Knowledge of computer software and large quantity production equipment (ie. Ovens, Grills, Mixers, Blenders,
Steam Kettles, Skillets, Meat Slicers, etc)

  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to lift up to 20kg
  • Must have demonstrated leadership skills
  • Ability to work with mínimal supervision
  • Understanding of working within a budget an asset

Salary Range:
$26.852 to 27.332
