We are seeking a qualified and enthusiastic Mechanical Lead to join our successful Built Environment team in Toronto and lead the mechanical team.

The role provides the opportunity to work on an exciting range of projects in both private and public sector, including major framework & infrastructure developments.

  • Preparation and review of documentation e.g., basis of designs, technical/design specifications, procurement specifications, assessment reports, survey reports, each tailored to a required stage of project completion, covering all aspects of mechanical services
  • Implementation of detailed surveys of mechanical services and equipment to establish status of the existing installations and gain sufficient information to recommend new/upgrade design proposals
  • Producing and reviewing mechanical design drawings and detailed calculations incl. HVAC, water, drainage, etc.
  • Producing fee estimates for work elements
  • Advising on all aspects of energy consumption and utilization with recommendations to improve energy performance
  • Monitoring of the design and project management of building services elements of projects within agreed programmes
  • Compliance with Construction (Design and Management) Regulations, current legislation and standards associated with all engineering aspects of delegated project
  • Develop resourcing and recruitment plans for projects
  • Develop training and career development plans for mechanical team members.
  • Managing the delivery of assigned projects
  • Working and liaising with associated engineering disciplines as part of delivering projects.
  • Responsible for managing internal and external stakeholders, ensuring client satisfaction and pursuing and promoting opportunities with potential and established clients.
  • Developing engineering from a feasibility stage to completion, providing leadership to the support team
  • Development of resilient services infrastructure solutions, maximizing the use of digital technology and tools.
  • Working as part of a multidiscipline team to deliver project input
  • Maximizing profitability of projects, monitoring against budget, reacting and anticipating potential problems and communicating in line with client expectations.

  • Experience working on multiple types of projects including but not limited to built environment and transit projects
  • A degree in building services engineering specializing in mechanical engineering
  • Up to date knowledge of current building regulations, legislation and standards applicable in building / infrastructure design environments and keep sustainability and decarbonization front and centre
  • Highly competent user/ knowledge of industry recognized software and mechanical engineering design tools including NBS specifications and IES/ TAS
  • BIM knowledge and experience
  • Selfmotivated, with the ability to work on own initiative and the confidence to make decisions
  • Ability to work well collaboratively, both internally and with external partners and subcontractors
  • Good verbal communication skills, and a positive attitude, adopting a coaching style to communication when appropriate
