What you'll be doing:
- Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of BCMHSUS Indigenous Health Action Plan to enhance patient experience and health care outcomes for Indigenous individuals accessing services, while ensuring alignment with PHSA's Indigenous Health team, Canada's Truth and Reconciliation Commission Calls to Action, the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP), and findings of In Plain Sight.
- Manage the promotion, monitoring, and evaluation of the Plan, overseeing systems, practices, policies, and timelines.
- Provide strategic and operational leadership to correctional health centers, adult mental health and substance use services, and forensic psychiatric services to identify and address barriers for Indigenous individuals accessing BCMHSUS services.
- Offer leadership and education on Indigenous cultural safety, patient experience, and community engagement to health professionals, leaders, and researchers to transform service delivery, research, and organizational culture.
- Identify educational needs, conduct seminars and workshops, and develop educational tools to support program and organizational objectives.
- Utilize effective management techniques to support outcome achievement and operational requirements.
- Identify critical barriers impacting BCMHSUS and PHSA's commitment to provide culturally safe care to Indigenous patients through assessment, data analysis, and recommendation of corrective actions.
- Evaluate new initiatives, partnership opportunities, and trends in Indigenous health services planning through literature review, professional networking, and attending relevant events.

What we are looking for:
- A master's degree in health services administration, Social Justice, Transformative Organizational Change, or a related discipline, along with at least five years of project management experience and stakeholder consultation involvement, including Indigenous health organizations.
- Demonstrated knowledge of historical colonial impacts on Indigenous communities, health issues, legislation, and public policies affecting Indigenous people, as well as a deep understanding of Canadian and Indigenous ideologies.
- Experience in health systems, policy, organizational change, anti-Indigenous racism, population health, illness prevention, mental health, substance use, knowledge exchange, and change management.
- Commitment to learning and understanding the Truth & Reconciliation Commission's Calls to Action, In Plain Sight Report, BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act, and related reports.
- Dedication to supporting lasting reconciliation in Canada as per TRC and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act.
