Reporting to the Manager, Professional Development and Community Programs, Centre for Continuing Education, the Program Coordinator's key responsibilities are the coordination, administration, development, and evaluation of professional development and community programs, courses, seminars and events; new course and program development; development of partnerships; and development of a strategic marketing and communication plan and implementation plans for programs and events.

This position is responsible for the recruitment, selection, supervision, and evaluation of contracted instructors; providing student advising, guidance to students regarding programming, and assessing transferability of other professional development programs into U of R non-credit programs; and may review certificate program requirements for certificate completion


Event planning activities include:

researching relevant topic areas based on emerging market trends; conducting risk assessments to ensure profitable and valuable events and event coordination; as well as seeking partnerships/sponsorships from external and internal partners.

Working with advisory committees is required. Participation as a team member in daily office procedures, meetings, committees, and special events is also required.

**Specific Accountabilities: - Coordination, administration, development and evaluation of programs, courses, seminars, and events.

  • New course and program development including formal and informal needs assessment; research and assess feasibility by developing budgets, risk assessments, proposals and recommendations to Manager.
  • Development of course curriculum; involves working with instructors, stakeholders and partners to ensure content aligns with program requirements, meets objectives and highquality teaching and learning is met.
  • Develop an overall strategic marketing and communication plan for both undergraduate and professional development programs, taking into account budgetary allocations; including marketing tactics and strategies, and programspecific implementation plans, to identify and target opportunities for growth through expansion into new marketplaces, and new industries.
  • Recruit, select, supervise and evaluate contracted instructors. Includes interviewing, selecting and negotiating compensation of new instructors.
  • Represent the area on advisory committee meetings and external community groups where appropriate.
Position Requirements

  • Fouryear undergraduate degree. Specialization in business administration or marketing is an asset. A combination of education, training and/or experience may be considered.
  • Five to seven years of experience in a relevant marketing/sales, program management or consulting position and demonstrated success in a cost recovery or forprofit environment.
  • Must possess an inspiring, entrepreneurial and businesslike approach and be comfortable working in a cost recovery setting.
  • Must possess strong connections to the business sector, government and community.
  • Experience scheduling programs, conferences and special events required.
  • Demonstrated ability to recruit, hire and supervising contract employees.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop marketing and communication plans.
  • Demonstrated ability to create and manage costrecovery budgets.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop internal and external partnerships.
  • Demonstrated skill in the use of Microsoft Office.
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize complex database systems.
  • Must have excellent written and oral communication.
  • Ability to work independently with mínimal supervision.
  • Excellent leadership, planning, human resource management, project management, and negotiation.
  • Knowledge of university policies and procedure, human resource management principles and practices, collective agreements and trends in University continuing education and business professional development, budgeting and accounting would all be assets.
Physical Demands Pay Grade APT 4 Salary Range $62,909 to $84,893 annually Status Permanent Work Hours

8:15 am - 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday, some evenings and weekends will be required
