Join our dynamic Summer Day Camp Team, where every day is different, and you will always be engaged with meaningful work


In this role, you will:

  • Provide leadership and supervision to Campers
  • Plan and deliver highquality programs and activities to campers
  • Ensure the best customer service and experience for camper and family
  • Responsible for attending all staff trainings (June 24th) and meetings; arriving on time, and actively participating and contributing to the success of the summer day camp experience
  • Ensure Health & Safety procedures are being followed and maintained and contribute to the cleaning, safety and maintenance to camp locations
  • Act as a positive role model for the campers and fellow staff through embodying the YMCA values, policies and procedures
  • Follow Bus Rules and Procedures before and after camp as well as be responsible for children at your bus stop and not leave until everyone has been picked up and signed out
  • Prepare weekly plans appropriate to the program, skill level and age of participants
  • Communicate effectively with campers, their families and other staff members, Camp Coordinator and Camp Manager
  • Be responsible for the safety and security of all participants in your care, at all times.
  • Diligently complete all paperwork each day including signin/sign out forms, headcount/sunscreen sheets, and camp journal entries

You bring:

  • Standard First Aid and CPR 'C' certificate valid until the last day of contract
  • Current criminal record check including vulnerable sector search
  • Previous experience working with children/youth
  • Positive attitude and teamwork in prior work/volunteer situations
  • Adventurous by nature and have a love for the outdoors
  • Strong Swimmermay be required to show proof of last swimming level completed
  • B.O.A.T. License would be considered an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to work well both independently and in a team environment
  • Welldeveloped interpersonal, and relationship building skills; ability to establish rapport and excellent communication with families, staff and volunteers
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to lead a group of children

  • Focus on the health, safety and wellbeing of all children, youth, and vulnerable people in YMCA programs including understanding legal and moral obligations related to reporting suspected child abuse to Child Protection Services
