Bar Chica is currently hiring a PASTRY CHEF to join our culinary team

Bar Chica is the sister restaurant of the renowned restaurant Patria. A casual, sophisticated, and upbeat venue, the menu is an eclectic mix of regional Spanish flavours offered in tapas-style.

A cocktail list for any and every moment and a truly authentic Spanish wine list found nowhere else in the city, this new favourite serves both food & drinks until 2am everyday.

Reporting to the Chef De Cuisine, the PASTRY CHEF will have previous pastry kitchen experience including decorating, baking, preparing pastry and desserts.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES:
Responsible for creating and preparing confectionery and other pastry-based items in accordance with existing menu
Inspect the quality of ingredients and accurately measure them for specific recipes
Execute pastry orders as per spec and garnishing requirements
Ensure compliance with food handling safety regulation, health and safety workplace policies and procedures


SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum 2 years of pastry cook, baker, or similar
Completion of related pastry culinary program, is an asset
Food Safe certification, is an asset
Creative ability in designing and decorating
Workable knowledge of kitchen equipment
Solid understanding of standard measurements and portions
Must be able to follow oral and written instructions
Excellent team player; camaraderie with all team members, BOH and FOH
Must exhibit a high degree of professionalism; (i.e. punctuality, dedication, well-groomed, mannerly)
Energetic with a passion for food and a positive outlook
Must have physical stamina to lift moderate amounts of weight
Ability to stand for long periods of time
Ability to work weekends, holidays, mornings and nights
