Metro Compactor Service was established in 1978 and is Canada's leading expert in Waste and Recycling Equipment solutions. We are a multi-skilled company with locations in Brampton, Etobicoke, and Port Coquitlam, BC.
The services we offer include the custom manufacturing, refurbishment, and repair of waste and recycling equipment such as balers, and compactors.
Hours:8am - 4:30pm with overtime and on-call
On-Call schedule:
Approximately every 3rd to 4th week - for which you will be compensated.
What You'll Do:
The Electrical Service Technician travels to our high-profile commercial client locations in the lower mainland and surrounding areas to perform diagnostic checks, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and general repairs to waste equipment such as compactors and balers.
Please note the work is not 100% electrical and the Service Technician will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing mechanical and hydraulic issues as well.
- Previous working experience on machinery, including heavy equipment, Hydraulics or electrical controls.
- Capable to read & interpret electrical circuit drawings and mechanical blueprints to properly diagnose, repair and replace various parts and components.
- An acute attention to detail coupled with experience working with hand tools such as drills, grinders, wrenches, hammers, and measurement tape.
- Able to learn and work with ultrasonic sensors, photoeyes, pressure transducers, solenoids, relays, and limit switches.
- Must be willing to travel to several locations throughout the day and work independently in a company vehicle.
- Strong verbal communication skills while maintaining professional appearance, positive attitude, and a safetyfirst mindset.
- Comfortable working in all weather conditions yearround and wearing protective clothing while working in or near garbage, recycling, or compost material.
- Valid class 5 drivers license, clean criminal background and drivers abstract
Nice to Have (We will Train):
- Stick Arc Welding
- Hydraulics experience (changing cylinders or hoses)
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to operate equipment and machinery; climb or balance; kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk with and listen to other team members, supervisor, and customers.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, outside weather conditions and vibration.
The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions.
The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. PPE is required to be worn as per our H & S policiesWhat We Offer:
