Job Title - Office Assistant/Media


Duration:
mid-June to August 30 (potential to start in May or June)


Wage Range:
$5600-$7200 (based on 16 weeks)

  • The mission of Hidden Acres Mennonite Camp and Retreat Centre is to provide a welcoming, peaceful gathering place where diverse groups of people experience lifegiving connections with God, one another, and nature. _


The role of Office Assistant/Media supports the work of the Office Manager and helps develop and manage media (videos, photography etc.).

This person may split their time between their specific responsibilities and helping with programs and activities as needed.


Requirements for all Staff

  • While the program is running, living on site is an expectation and room and board are provided.
  • Motivated to make a difference and have a positive impact on our society and community.
  • Has a genuine love for, and interest in, working with children, including those who have emotional, physical, behavioural, or developmental special needs, in an inclusive summer camp program.
  • Has knowledge of the Christian faith and is willing to work supportively in a faithbased setting.
  • Is able to find a healthy balance between following directions and taking initiative to see what needs to be done and do it.
  • Is able to find a healthy balance between working hard to accomplish what needs to be done, achieving personal goals, motivating others to have fun while having fun yourself, and contributing to meeting the mission of Hidden Acres.
  • Demonstrates flexibility, an ability to change tasks or directions with ease, and a willingness to assist cooperatively in a variety of tasks and programs as time allows.
  • Displays patience, a commitment to working well with others, and the ability to solve sometimes complex problems. This is all done while maintaining a positive attitude towards others and assigned tasks.
  • Models excellent leadership behaviours and participates in all aspects of camp life.
  • First Aid, CPR and/or lifeguarding qualifications (NL certification or higher) are an asset, but not required.
  • Is able to participate in our two Staff Orientation events: May 34 and June 2328

Requirements for the Office Assistant

  • Has interest and knowledge in a variety of office related tasks including writing, computers/data entry, filing, organizing, etc.
  • Has familiarity with Google Drive and its software (Docs, Sheets, etc.) along with Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, etc.)
  • Knowledge of web page design, database programming and digital photo/video programs (ex. Photoshop Elements, Canva, etc.) is an asset.
  • Has interest in camp programming as well as leading and facilitating activities and supporting campers.

Requirements for the Media Coordinator

  • Has familiarity with Google Drive and its software (Docs, Sheets, etc.)
  • Knowledge of web page design, database programming and digital photo/video programs (ex. Photoshop Elements, Canva, etc.)
  • Photography and videography experience is an asset.
  • Digital media content creation experience is an asset.
  • Has interest in camp programming as well as leading and facilitating activities and supporting campers.

Responsibilities for Office Assistant

  • Prior to school groups and camp starting, read reports from past Office Assistants and Media Coordinator
  • Provide support to the organization's clerical needs i.e. filing, mailing, computer data entry, reports, staff data information, etc.
  • Assist in ordering HAC gear. Manage and track HAC gear sales.
  • Assist the Summer Program Coordinator as needed.
  • A willingness to assist Cabin Leaders, especially those who are soloing, as well as take on Cabin Leading responsibilities as needed.
  • Work outside of the office in other areas of the camp program as needed, and as time and interest permit.
  • Submit a written report, due within
    two weeks of camp ending that includes a description of your program area of responsibility, an evaluation of the programs, a final inventory of HAC gear, and recommendations for the next year.
  • The Office Assistant is responsible to the Assistant Program Director and the Office Manager.

Responsibilities for Media Coordinator

  • Prior to school groups and camp starting, read reports from past Media Coordinators.
  • Take pictures/video of all programs and activities throughout the summer.
  • Responsible for coordinating cabin photos as well as their printing and distribution.
  • Manage and organize all summer camp photos as well as assisting the Assistant Program Director with posting pictures to social media and the website.
  • Create a media marketing plan in consultation with the Assistant Program Director and Executive Director.
  • Create media content to be used to promote summer camp through social media, video content etc.
  • Assist the Summer Program Coordinator and Summer Camp Director as needed.
  • A willingness to assist Cabin Leaders, especially those who are soloing, as well as take on Cabin
