The Community Engagement Specialist is responsible for Delta Community Office operations, and coordination and participation in the development and implementation of VFPA's communications, engagement and outreach activities in Delta.

This includes day-to-day office management, general communications to support for outreach and engagement activities, and assisting the municipal engagement team with other related activities as required.


The Community Engagement Specialist will:

  • Perform a wide range of daytoday office management and operation duties.
  • Plan and coordinate the implementation of VFPA's outreach and engagement activities including all logistics and administrative support.
  • Interact with the general public visiting the Delta Community Office and speak confidently about port initiatives and projects, providing appropriate information and VFPA messages.
  • Provide tours and presentations to community stakeholder groups.
  • Work in collaboration with team members to develop a wide variety of communications materials for various audiences.
  • Prepare, disseminate and coordinate correspondence and information sharing with community stakeholders.
  • Coordinate and participate in meetings, both internally and with community groups, including supporting meetings and activities for the Port Community Liaison Committee.
  • Provide general business communications support to VFPA and the department as assigned, including preparing status updates, briefing notes, communication plans, presentations, meeting materials and other documents as required.
  • Perform research in support of department initiatives.
  • Write, post and maintain local government, community and projectrelated web and intranet materials.
  • Maintain related local government, community tracking databases; update and expand as necessary.
  • Coordinate and participate in promotional or special events, or on project teams, as required.
  • Perform backup relief role for VFPA's community feedback line.
  • Liaise with port security for daytoday operations and special events.
