Job Summary:


Responsibilities:


  • Implement regulatory changes and requirements for the fleet
  • Develop a procedure regarding an orientation and onboarding process for newly hired drivers including training, paperwork, documentation, policies/procedures, and introductions to staff. Review mandatory training with new hires including hours of service, weights and dimensions, and WHMIS.
  • Ensure compliance with existing regulations and best practices
  • Point of contact for MTO and OTA
  • Assist in incident/collision investigations including root cause analysis, coaching, and implementing corrective measure
  • Prehire road testing including proper pretrip inspection
  • Job task observations (pretrip, loading, driving, unloading) by visiting customer's site
  • Take a leading role in our New Driver Training Program & TFW Training Program. Specifically, you will develop training & development materials, checklists, and oversight measures
  • Take a leadership role with our group of driver coaches to develop their skills, provide guidance, and standardize procedures and training benchmarks
  • Create and maintain records to document training and development of drivers. Create and implement ongoing and/or annual training programs to supplement driver skills and keep the fleet updated about new regulations.
  • Keep abreast of new technologies and regulations that relate to the industry. Become a goto person for driver concerns to gain insight for employee retention initiatives.
  • Assist in WSIB matters including "early and safe return to work" and effective claim management

Requirements and Skills

  • Must have experience with flatbeds
  • Minimum five years of experience required and bachelor's degree is preferred
  • Must be able to build strong relationships with drivers to foster their professional development. Must be aware and responsive to generational and cultural differences in the delivery of training and development.
  • Excellent communication skills, organizational skills and time management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage highstress situations calmly and effectively
  • Knowledge of different transportation laws and regulations within Canada and the USA
  • Previous experience in training/coaching professional drivers is an asset
  • Experience in designing/delivering training programs is an asset
  • Experience in working with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures is an asset.
  • Bilingual in English/Punjabi is a plus

Hours of Work

  • Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 5:30 pm
  • Weekly hours may vary depending on operational/business needs
  • Occasional weekend availability
