JOB SUMMARY
Key Accountabilities

  • Be an active participant in Synagro's Environmental Health and Safety program,
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment,
  • Detect, troubleshoot, and repair irregularities and malfunctions in production equipment,
  • Recognize operational inconsistencies and hazards in the workplace and display proper judgment in responding accordingly,
  • Monitor and control an automated facility from a control room and the process floor to assure the plant operations in accordance with company policies and plant standard operating procedures,
  • Cut and analyze samples throughout the process,
  • Maintain logbook and records of plant operations including, but not limited to, hourly operating data and abnormal operating conditions,
  • Load final product into trucks utilizing an automated screw conveyor system,
  • Ensure the facility operates within permit compliance, at or above design capability maintaining a highquality product,
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Wastewater Treatment-Class 1 License is preferred; OIT license required
  • Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent,
  • Class G Driver's & Forklift License,
  • Experienced in control room HMI operations,
  • Knowledge of PLC's and automated process equipment,
  • Selfstarter with the ability to work independently and safely,
  • Experienced performing field checks of equipment and cutting samples,
  • Strong mechanical & electrical aptitude and understanding of automated process equipment,
  • Basic to intermediate computer skills,
  • Able to work under time constraints, often fast paced environment (multitasking).
  • Ability to communicate in english both written and verbally,
  • When required, manual handling of dewater sludge
  • Handwashing using a high pressure hose
  • Ability to perform basic math calculations,
  • Ability to perform preventative maintenance
  • Effective organizational and interpersonal skills are required,
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructional manuals, instruction sheets, technical data, work orders and mechanical drawings in english,
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Appreciate, and thrive in a small team environment.

Understand a portion of your time will be required outdoors exposed to ambient conditions.


Personal protective equipment, such as a hard hat, eye protection, hearing protection, respirators, FR coveralls, and safety boots are mandatory.

Environmental conditions may include hot, cold, dirt, dust, wet or noise in an industrial setting.

Subject to hazards:

Includes a variety of physical conditions such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to bio-solids.


The workers may be exposed to close quarters, crawl space, small, enclosed rooms, small sewage and water line pipes, and other areas which could cause claustrophobia.

Labour intensive activities handling up to 45lb and operating machinery (i.e. crane, elevated platform, forklift)
