The Nguyen lab at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre at University Health Network is excited to recruit a new addition to the team who is passionate about scientific research, and motivated to make an impact in the field.

Our lab combines experimental work with cell lines and patient-derived tumour xenograft models with advanced computational analysis approaches to understand clonal heterogeneity in human breast cancer as it pertains to disease progression and drug resistance.

Our lab collaborates with other research labs across Canada, and Europe, and we are looking for someone who will integrate well into this team.

Interest in our area of research is important, but direct experience in this field is not necessary.


We are seeking a Research Technician who is passionate about cancer research to participate in cutting-edge research aimed at identifying novel immunotherapies to treat cancers.


Key Duties

  • Culturing and expanding human tumorinfiltrating T cells isolated from patient tumors
  • Assessing T cell tumor specificity, reactivity and phenotype using flow cytometry and other techniques
  • Experience with transfecting primary murine bone marrow for a study of hematopoietic stem cells in specific murine models.
  • Preparing cells for single cell RNA seq analysis and genomic DNA extraction

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Masters Degree or higher in a life science related field
  • At minimum, four (4) years of experience with standard biomedical research laboratory techniques.
  • Strong background and working experience in tissue culture techniques is required
  • Prior experience with multicolor flow cytometry, T cell functional assays, ELISA and other immunological techniques are an asset
  • Effective organizational, time management and prioritization skills
  • Strong work ethic and able to work independently as well a part of a team
