    The goal of the City of Burnaby and its employees is to consistently deliver first class service and services to our community.

    This is clerical and typing work in the Sports and Outdoor Recreation division involving coordinating the bookings of a variety of Municipal facilities.

    The work entails receiving requests from community groups, sports clubs and the public, discusses available dates and users' requirements for equipment and facilities; book facilities; receive, complete and issue rental contract forms; verify and record insurance certificates and provide list of facility rules to users.

    provides information and assistance for in person, email, or over the telephone to a variety of internal and external contacts; receives complaints from park patrol and parks operations crews and refers the difficult, more sensitive matters to a supervisor for resolution.

    Maintains and updates facility booking data, records and deletes bookings, cancellations, fees received and owed and facility usage information; prepares and maintains a variety of office records, files, statistics, contracts and related materials, compiles simple statistical data, performs non complex mathematical calculations.

    establishes and maintains effective working relationships with a wide variety of community groups and organizations, the public and internal contacts.

    Qualifications include completion of Grade 12 including or supplemented by commercial and typing courses plus sound related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

    Considerable knowledge of departmental policies, practices, rules and regulations related to the work performed and of the capacity and amenities and equipment available at the related facilities.

    Knowledge of modern office methods and procedures and of business English, spelling, arithmetic and punctuation.

    An incumbent will have sound knowledge of clerical and booking procedures using the ActiveNet system, including those pertaining to receiving and processing cash cheque, and credit card remittances; knowledge of the needs of various community groups and sports clubs as they relate to the facilities and amenities available for rent.

    Ability to maintain effective working relationships and to deal courteously with a variety of community groups and sports clubs, the public and internal contacts in supplying information and assistance; to make decisions in accordance with applicable rules, regulations and policies; to operate standard office equipment and have skill in the operation of computer systems and equipment related to the work.
