The opportunity:

The University of Manitoba is looking for an Assistant Manager, Treasury Services.

This position will be responsible for the cash flow and reconciliation of all University bank accounts, reviewing the universities daily cash position and analyzing future cash inflows and outflows.

The Assistant Manager, Treasury Services will also be responsible for the accounting of short-term investment products for operating working capital, specific trust funds, and capital trust funds.


The qualifications and experience we're looking for:

  • An undergraduate degree in a related discipline is required. A major in Accounting or Finance is preferred.
  • A professional accounting designation is required (CPA).
  • A minimum of three (3) years of directlyrelated accounting experience.
  • Experience working with high levels of cash is required.
  • Experience in the identification of financial reporting needs and developing financial reporting to meet the needs of stakeholders is required.
  • Experience communicating financial information to nonfinancial staff and faculty is required.
  • Experience advising on financial best practices, policies and procedures is required.
  • Experience working in a complex, computerized accounting environment is essential.
  • Experience in a University environment would be an asset.
  • Experience with shortterm investments would be an asset.
  • Experience with trust and endowment funds would be an asset.
  • An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Advanced proficiency in the use of the Microsoft Office is required.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively (both orally and written) with all levels of staff and public in a diplomatic manner.
  • Must be skilled in the analysis of investment, financial, and system information.
  • Must be able to organize and prioritize work own work and work of the department, and ensure tasks are completed in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service is required.
  • Ability to prepare and review complex financial information with close attention to detail and accuracy is required.
  • Ability to adapt to and implement change is essential.
  • A sound knowledge of University policy and procedures is desirable.
  • Experience with trust and endowment funds would be an asset.
  • Knowledge of trust law, CRA charity rules, and shortterm investing would be an asset.
  • Satisfactory work record, including satisfactory attendance and punctuality, is required.
