    Defence Construction Canada (DCC) invites you to consider joining our team.

    DCC is a dynamic and fast-paced Crown corporation whose clients include the Canadian Armed Forces and the Department of National Defence. We are currently seeking enthusiastic and motivated Commissioning Professional to join our Halifax-based DCC team.

    The Commissioning Coordinator plans, leads and/or monitors all aspects of the commissioning process through the design, construction, handover/occupancy, and warranty phases. These services can be provided through in-house resources or third-party contracts. The Commissioning Coordinator interacts with all levels of project personnel, from trades to contractors to owners, and adapts to different audiences to build rapport and good working relationships. The incumbent carriesout or oversees allcommissioningactivities(e.g.preparesreports, verifies and witnesses static and dynamic testing, inspects building systems, etc.) for contracts with commissioning requirements ranging from moderate to high complexity. The incumbent is Halifax-based, but may take on additional roles, such as coordinating regional commissioning work, as required.

    DCC's capabilities in mechanical, electrical, and other infrastructure-related disciplines ensures that building systems are designed, installed, functionally tested and capable of meeting the client's operational needs before the facility is turned over to the client.

  • MayactascommissioningauthorityforLEED and Green Globes certifiedprojectswithinaregion.
  • Reviewdrawingsandspecificationsforcommissioningrequirements.
  • Preparedesignreview,commissioningandtesting plans and reports.
  • Verifyequipmentinstallationandfunction andwitnessstaticanddynamictesting.
  • Completeestimatesforcontractchangestosupportconstructioncoordinators.
  • Reviewconsultantstatementsofworktoensurecommissioningrequirementsareclear and comply with DCC quality assurance requirements.
  • Identifypotentialcommissioningproblemsandmakerecommendationsto internal and external stakeholders on possible solutions.
  • DevelopandmaintaineffectiverelationshipswithinDCC,andwithindustry,the Client-Partners and/or stakeholders.
  • Ensurequalitystandardsaremet,inlinewithcorporateandClient-Partnerexpectations.
  • Manageriskrelatedto commissioning activities.

  • SKILLS
    General and Specific Knowledge

  • Experience with commissioning processes as outlined by ASHRAE, LEED, BCxA or equivalent.

  • Formal Education and/or Certification(s) and Experience

  • Minimum: college diploma in mechanical,electrical, telecommunications or building automationcontrolsystemsorrelatedfieldwithfiveyears'experience,ortheequivalent.
  • Preferred: Commissioning related education and/or certification (e.g. QCxP, BCxP, CCP, EBCx, or equivalent) is an asset.
