    MANAGER, SECDEVOPS

    BUSINESS TECHNOLOGY SERVICES

    NorQuesters are difference makers and we're searching for someone who can find ways forward in the leadership of our Application Development, IT Service Management, and Digital Security teams as they work to create, maintain, and support software, systems, and processes ensuring our technology is available, defensible, and resilient.

    Reporting to the Director, Business Technology Services, the Manager, SecDevOps oversees the teams responsible for ensuring that security is incorporated in software development and the deployment lifecycle, that security principles and standards are considered in all ITSM process, and that the College continues to mature its cybersecurity programs.

  • Facilitate collaboration among cross-functional teams, including developers, operations personnel, and security experts.
  • Promote a culture of security awareness and provide training and resources to team members to enhance their understanding of secure coding practices and the importance of security in the development process.
  • Communicate security-related information to the senior leadership team and stakeholders to ensure their buy-in and support.
  • Continuously monitor the effectiveness of ITSM, security and software development processes as well as identify areas for improvement.
  • Analyze security metrics and KPIs to measure the success of security initiatives and identify trends or patterns that require attention.
  • Drive continuous improvement efforts to enhance the overall security posture of the organization.
  • Conduct risk assessments to identify potential security threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and internal security policies.
  • Implement risk mitigation strategies and oversee security incident response and resolution.
  • Lead efforts to integrate security practices seamlessly into the DevOps workflow.
  • Implement security testing, vulnerability scanning, code analysis, and other security tools to identify and address security issues early in the development process.
  • Lead teams involved in application development, IT Service Management, and Digital Security, ensuring activities align with business goals and strategic outcomes.
  • Update existing security processes, procedures, standards, and best practices as well as execute the technology and digital strategies.
  • WHAT YOU BRING

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Industry security certifications including CISSP, CISM, CEH, CSSLP, ITIL v4 Foundations.
  • 5+ years' experience in software development, software engineering, cyber security and/or IT Service Management.
  • 3+ years' experience in a supervisory role in one of the above fields.

  • In-depth knowledge of DevOps practices, principles, and tools including an understanding of version control systems, automated testing, and deployment methodologies is an asset.
  • Risk and Incident Response training and/or experience would be considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of IT Service Management processes and experience with related platforms (e.g. ServiceNow).
  • Ability to prioritize work efforts, balancing operational tasks with longer-term strategic security efforts.
  • Documentation and presentation skills.
  • Analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to identify needs and take initiative.
  • SALARY: $98,462 - $123,048 reflective upon what you bring AKA your education and experience. This is a full-time permanent position with immediate access to our great pension and benefit programs.
