We're a vibrant, active, year-round arts organization powered by 15 full-time staff and over 2000 seasonal volunteers that produces the 45-year-old 'post-folk' festival annually at Prince's Island Park, the winter Block Heater festival and concerts at our own Festival Hall and around the city.
The role
Sponsorship will be a daily collaborator to ensure sponsor relationships are being fostered for an exceptional experience with the Folk Festival Society of Calgary (FFSC).
Administration of sponsorship contracts, including drafting and preparing proposals and fulfillment reports is required. The skill of adapting communication style to best suit relationships across a wide range of industries is an asset. The salary range for this position is $50K-$60K depending on relevant experience.
Job description
The development department is responsible for the acquisition and stewardship of all philanthropic, corporate giving, sponsorships and some grants for all activities under the Folk Festival Society of Calgary
(Calgary Folk Music Festival, Festival Hall and Block Heater). The Department works with the Executive
Director to set fundraising goals.
Development Director.
This role will require the ability to confidently engage with established, long-term sponsors as well as new partners ranging from food vendors to large brands.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
This is primarily a relationship management role responsible for the execution and coordination of the following:
Sponsor Acquisition:
- Work alongside the Development Director to solicit and attract annual sponsors to the various festivals and programs presented by the Folk Festival Society of Calgary
- Help design promotional materials and pitch decks as it relates to sponsor acquisition
- Write compelling copy that inspires interest and investment in the FFSC
Sponsor Support and Benefits Delivery:
- Work closely with Operations department on activation design, support, setup and strike
- Ensure that all practices, protocols and procedures are followed by sponsors and their staff
- Manage a crew of volunteers to support fundraising efforts yearround and during festivals
- Support and organize recognition events and opportunities
- Ensure pageantry, signage and banners are created and deployed accurately
- Oversee, from start to finish, the fulfillment requirements of sponsor contracts
Fulfillment Reporting:
- Work closely with the Marketing department to create positive and visually appealing reports that demonstrate the value of sponsorship investments at FFSC
- Keep up on industry trends within the sponsorship industry relating to marketing outcomes and results
General Administrative Duties:
- Assist in preparation of impact and fulfillment reports
- Support database maintenance and consistently monitor the status of sponsor contracts and invoices
Staff/Volunteer Supervision
- While in the office, all staff are expected to answer phones, deal with the public, and generally contribute where necessary to the overall process of festival organization and set-up.
- All staff are expected to work with each other, volunteers and the public in a respectful and professional manner, in order to enhance the reputation of the festival.
Festival Duties
During Festival set-up, Festival weekend and tear-down, all staff are on-call and thus expected to pitch in as necessary, in both their own areas of responsibility and others as assigned/requested.
