We are hiring an experienced communications professional to work closely with Corporate and Public Affairs (CAPA) colleagues supporting external communications programs for Canadian Business Banking and TD Securities (TDS), a leader in Capital Markets, Investment Banking, Equities Research and Strategy.


ROLE OVERVIEW, RESPONSIBILITIES, EXPERIENCE

  • Play a critical role in developing and executing external public relations activities in support of Business Banking and TDS leaders, products and services, collaborating with key stakeholders and control partners including Legal, Marketing, Privacy and Compliance in addition to our external PR agencies.
  • Drive strategy and executive communications in support of Group Heads, which includes overseeing and prioritizing incoming leadership requests and researching and writing flawless communication materials, including briefing documents, speaking remarks, video scripts, internal articles and announcements.
  • Work closely with the Senior Manager, Corporate Communications to develop and execute internal communications tactics that celebrate our colleagues and their achievements, aligning to Business Banking and TDS priorities.
  • Identify and use the most appropriate storytelling tools to produce and deliver compelling content to employee and external audiences, leveraging traditional, online and social to influence stakeholders and drive engagement across a number of channels, audiences and geographies.
  • Liaise with media and internal spokespeople to identify and manage media requests.
  • Continue to foster meaningful and lasting relationships with key journalists who cover the financial industry.
  • Maintain a pulse on trends and proactive opportunities where TD could own the space/be the voice or contribute to thought leadership.
  • Manage media and reputation issues by being an advocate for clear, credible and transparent messages
  • Consistently demonstrate strong project management skills and the ability to partner effectively across the organization and with colleagues within CAPA

Job Requirements

  • Trackrecord of conceiving and delivering creative and compelling PR, marketing communications campaigns and digital storytelling.
  • Skilled communicator with strong media relations and issues management background and demonstrated experience managing complex corporate issues.
  • Expertise in providing reputational counsel and issues management and developing customercentric corporate positioning in media messaging.
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently in an integrated capacity alongside business leaders, marketing and social media teams, publishing and creative design teams, vendors as well as control functions (legal, compliance, privacy etc.).
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills to create materials that make an impact, including employee communications, digital content, speeches and presentations, news stories, media pitches and releases.
  • Proactive, organized, and industrious.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fastpaced environment under tight deadlines; selfstarter highly motivated to deliver results and ability to work independently.

QUALIFICATIONS/COMPETENCIES, ACCREDITATION:


  • 8 years+ communications experience in corporate or consulting environment
  • Experience in financial services or large regulated/publiclytraded company an asset
  • Knowledge and comfort of capital markets
  • Experience working with senior leaders
  • Excellent judgment in dealing with sensitive issues and providing counsel to senior executives
  • Able to manage, budget, projects, results reporting, analysis and vendor relationships
  • Undergraduate degree or PR/marketing/corporate communications certification, designations, or equivalent required
  • Bilingualism (English/French) an asset
