OVERVIEW:


Pickering College is seeking a dynamic writer and researcher with fundraising experience to join our Development team as the Donor Relations Coordinator.


Reporting to the Manager of Annual Giving and Constituent Relations, the Coordinator will work closely with our fundraising staff to research prospective donors, and through reporting and research, help identify opportunities to advance donor relationships.

The Coordinator will provide communications support for all fundraising programs, including writing donor-centric appeals, inspiring cases for support, donor impact pagers and reports, tailored proposals for major donors, and support promotions for stewardship and signature fundraising events.

To support the department with building stronger prospect and donor relationships, the Coordinator will oversee a departmental engagement calendar, and an impact driven stewardship and acknowledgement calendar.

Finally, the individual supports the department's parent and alumni engagement programs by contributing to Pickering print and digital publications, preparing content for departmental webpages and alumni social media platforms, and providing event support as required.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • In conjunction with Development Team members, creates and maintains an engagement calendar of parent, alumni, donor, and fundraising initiatives and the communications that support them, along with key school events and functions.
  • Under the guidance of the Development Manager, writes and creates cases for support that inspire significant gifts targeted to specific outcomes and donor interests.
  • Under the guidance of the Manager, Annual Giving and Constituent Relations, supports the annual fund by writing strategic, donorcentric digital and print appeals for the direct mail community campaigns, monthly giving program, Giving Tuesday campaign, and special interest group giving (such as Grade 12 Family Giving, etc.) that will help us reach our Annual Fund goal each year.
  • Working with the assigned Primary Relationship Manager, prepares prospect profiles for major gift, planned giving, leadership giving, and event sponsorship, constituent profiles, material for briefing notes and event attendees.
  • Executes and helps develop a dynamic stewardship calendar with a variety of written materials including cards, postcards, and special digital and print mailings to highlight donor investments in our mission and provide a steady and positive message of gratitude.
  • Updates and maintains the annual stewardship letter inventory, crafting motivating and meaningful acknowledgements for donors at all levels.
  • Maintains a portfolio of compelling stories that can be leveraged to illustrate donor impact.
  • Prepares compelling and persuasive communications supporting fundraising, strategic events, and community awards (such as Class of 1842, 5th Pillar, Alumni Keystone Award, etc.).
  • Generates content and updates the Parent, Alumni, and Donate pages of the website as well as the Parent Portal as required.
  • Serves as the editor, liaises with Development Team members, departments and teachers to write, edit and produce Alumni Connects, a monthly enewsletter, and the Thank You to Donors Report in _The Pillars_ magazine.
  • Proofreads communications for errors of fact, style and grammar.
  • Assists with departmental events as required, such as PCA (Pickering College Association), alumni Reunion Weekend, stewardship events and signature fundraising events.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 35 years of development communications experience, in a notfor profit and/or education setting
  • Demonstrated experience in fundraising communications, with a focus on digital strategy and prospect research
  • Postsecondary education in Journalism, Public Relations, Corporate Communications, or related discipline

DEMONSTRATED SKILL AND ABILITIES:


  • Excellent persuasive writing, editing, proofreading and communications skills
  • Experience in social media management and use of Google Analytics
  • Expertise in using Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office software, and a donor management system such as Raiser's Edge.
  • Strong ability to multitask within a dynamic environment as well as key attention to detail
  • Proven research and analytical skills that reflect an understanding of the donor cycle and clear knowledge of prospecting resources, including use of wealth indicator tools.
  • Demonstrated sound judgement, organization, decisionmaking and problemsolving skills
  • Capability to manage changing priorities, concurrent projects and demanding deadlines with flexibility and a cando attitude
  • Ability to work independently as a part of a creative and collaborative team, delivering excellent customer service to internal and external stakeholders at all levels of the school
