    Position Description

    Cross Agency Clinical Services and the Autism Service Department at Surrey Place are seeking a Psychologist II. Reporting to the Manager, Interprofessional Clinical Teams, the Psychologist II works as part of an interdisciplinary team and provides psychological services to children with confirmed or suspected developmental disabilities, and autism spectrum disorder (ASD) to assist in identifying the developmental, cognitive and communicative status of the child. Services provided include but are not limited to assessment, psychotherapy, consultation, research, education, clinical supervision, and advocacy. This position supports work with Cross Agency Clinical Services and partner agencies through our Service for Partners and Organizations Department.

    Main Responsibilities:

  • Provide psychological assessment, (both cognitive and personality), written reports, and recommendations for children with developmental disabilities.
  • Provide counselling and psychotherapy interventions to individuals, families, and groups.
  • Provide supervision and mentorship to staff, interns, practicum students, and/or early career psychologists.
  • Collaborate with the ministry by participating in Expert committees and developing and reviewing ministry guidelines.
  • Consult with the legal system in regard to clients with developmental disabilities and witness legal proceedings.
  • Promote business development through fee for service and identifying and developing business opportunities with other agencies.
  • Support transitional age groups/programs and supervise staff across the lifespan, using Surrey Place's lifespan approach.
  • Enhance process efficiency through managing waitlists, leading team meetings, and translating management directives to be implemented by the team.
  • Work independently and collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team to provide both assessment and treatment services.
  • Provide consultation regarding psychological services to individuals, families, partner agencies, and the interdisciplinary team.
  • Provide psychological supervision.
  • Qualifications:

  • PhD or Psy D in Psychology
  • Member in good standing with the Ontario College of Psychologists
  • 5+ years of clinical experience, post-registration, or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated experience in clinical interviewing, diagnosis and formulation, consultation; knowledge of typical and atypical lifespan development; knowledge of specialized interventions for adults with developmental disabilities; experience with a broad range of psychometric tools and principles; and statistical knowledge
  • Demonstrated experience working with adults, and experience participating on an interdisciplinary team.
  • Experience with neuropsychological assessment tools is an asset
  • Experience working with adolescents as well as adults is an asset
  • Leadership skills and proven experience in mentoring and developing staff and students
  • Excellent verbal and written communication; strong interpersonal, problem solving, and time management skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office 365
  • The successful candidate must provide an acceptable Vulnerable Sector Screening, and proof of being fully vaccinated for Covid-19
  • Fluency in French is considered an asset
