    Quality Assurance/ Quality Control Technician (Microbiology

    Location: Saskatoon, SK

    Where the Chemistry Happens...


    We are looking for a Quality Assurance/ Quality Control (QA/QC) Technician to perform quality assurance and quality control procedures for raw materials, intermediates and finished products in the Saskatoon location.

    As a part of the local Quality Assurance team and reporting to the Quality Assurance Manager, The QA/QC Technician II will stay abreast of the changing business/economic, environment, business requirements and organizational priorities as well as business environment issues and legislative changes. They must be able to effectively manage tight specifications and attention to detail to ensure that product will meet customer expectations.

    Formula for Success: You Will...

    • Examine inoculants using serial dilutions, bacterial enumeration, purity testing, sieve/bulk densities, pH analysis and moisture content to ensure the manufactured inoculants meet the required specifications.
    • Test raw and intermediate materials consumed in the production of inoculants using streak plates, pH analysis, moisture content determination, liquid holding capacity and bacterial enumeration for conformance.
    • Monitor and test bacterial cultures using purity and streak plating, gram staining and spectrophotometry to ensure cultures.
    • Perform daily lab activities/cleaning including but not limited to equipment calibrations, validations, glassware and media preparation.
    • Accurately calculate and record QC data into spreadsheets or forms which are used to make decisions regarding conformance of inoculants produced in Saskatoon.
    • Participate in and contribute to improvement and/or product/process development initiatives.

    Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You...

    • Degree in relevant science (Biology, Microbiology, Biochemistry).
    • 0-3 years of experience.
    • Solid computer skills: MS-Office, Internet.
    • Great attention to detail to ensure products meet customer expectations.
