Human Resource Manager


DEPARTMENT:
Human Resource


HOURS: 40 Hours (Full Time)


COMPENSATION:
$80,000.00-$85,00.00


REPORTING LINE:
Finance Director


POSITION DESCRIPTION SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for the recruitment, screening, interviewing of new staff members of the YWCA.

Analyzing and monitoring HR needs, employee orientation, ensuring meeting of standards for on-going training of staff and maintaining and recording information related to employees.

Further the function of HR is to act as a connection between management and employees by helping to resolve work-related problems, handle employee discrepancies and support managers in meeting labour standards and Human Rights Legislations.


POSTION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Ensure HR controls are in place to safeguard handling of personal information.
  • Provide up to date, detailed HR Policies and Procedures and ensure program managers and staff are aware of their responsibilities.
  • Instruct managers and supervisors at various levels as to treatment of our human capital from an HR standpoint while ensuring Alberta Labour Standards, Human Rights Legislation and applicable program standards are maintained.
  • Manage and support payroll processes and related remittances.
  • Employee Benefits administration
  • Support with WCB claims management to mitigate claims costs and support appropriate return to work plans.
  • Participate in the Employee Health and Safety committee.
  • Manage and support recruitment process and employment program and process including, conducting new hire orientation, new hire training, employee spot check and exit interview.
  • Document workflow and work procedures
  • Develop and facilitate training for leadership development based on organizational needs.
  • Reviews course evaluations, examination results and job/knowledge performance to assess the effectiveness of the training and development program.
  • Works collaboratively with managers and supervisors to provide appropriate and timely coaching and direction.
  • Coordinate and administer employee recognition programs. Prepare and maintain related employee relations records and reports.
  • Respond to supervisor and manager inquiries concerning personnel.
  • Assist in conducting annual performance appraisals and regular supervision of staff.
  • Employees are to perform other duties as assigned that may or may not be directly related to their current position of employment.

2) COMMUNITY

  • Attend outside meetings to represent the YWCA as assigned and appropriate.
  • Liaise with agency lawyer as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Minimum of bachelor's degree in human resources, or related area.
years of experience required

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a leadership / supervisory role required, notfor
- profit sector preferable.

  • Certified Human Resources Professional Designation
  • PCP designation is an asset.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES:


  • In depth knowledge of HR practices and procedures.
  • Exceptional Excel, PowerPoint, and Word skills required.
  • Experience using payroll and HRIS management software required, UKG experience is an asset.
  • Broad knowledge of labour standards, human rights legislation.
  • Demonstrated mindset of prioritizing inclusivity, advocating for underrepresented groups, and involvement in initiatives that aim to promote professional equality for everyone.
  • Experience managing employee grievances, conducting workplace investigations, disciplinary and misconduct hearings and dismissals.
  • Ability to assess workload and prioritize. Ability to supervise diverse staff group.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality, tact, and diplomacy.
  • Knowledge of women's issues.
  • Knowledge of funding processes and reporting requirements.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
