POSITION OVERVIEW:


As a member of the research team, the Clinical Research Coordinator collaborates with Investigators and the health care team in the coordination of clinical studies.

Under the direction of clinical investigators, the Clinical Research Coordinator will initiate and implement clinical studies including clinical trials, which typically include recruitment, clinical assessment for trial eligibility, trial education, and follow-up with participants.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:


Responsibilities include recruiting, screening and consenting eligible participants, extracting study data from medical records, executing of all aspects of study visits, providing study-related support for participants, implementing and coordinating of all aspects of data collection, sourcing documentation, and responding to queries.

Specifically related to our studies, the research coordinator will work on:


  • Recruitment of participants for clinical research studies
  • Scheduling of participants for study visits and procedures
  • Administration of 2hour oral glucose tolerance tests (OGTT) (including blood samples collection)
  • Administration of meal test (including blood samples collection)
  • Administration of 24h ambulatory blood pressure monitoring and data download.
  • Administration of study questionnaires
  • Telephone followup for cohort maintenance

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:


Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in biology, medical, health science or equivalent

  • Minimum 12 years in health care research environment; experience of writing and working with research proposals, manuscripts, and other research documents.
  • High degree of computer literacy and experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Familiarity in working with confidential information; maintaining professionalism, diplomacy and tact under high pressure situations
  • Ability to work with an interdisciplinary research team, including clinicians, statisticians, epidemiologists, and scientists.
  • Previous clinical research experience or healthcare experience as asset
  • Autonomous critical thinking ability
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills required
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills required
  • Ability to set priorities and work independently in a dynamic environment
  • Expertise with venipuncture (must be competent or willing to be trained)
