The Program Resource Worker is pivotal in accomplishing organizational objectives by:- Providing support services to residents on a daily basis;
- Promoting individual and group development among residents;
- Providing residents with information and linkages to the broader community in which they live.

Salary:
$ $28.16 per hour commensurate on experience and qualifications
Provides Support Services by:
- maintaining responsibility for a designated resident group;
- developing and maintaining a positive, friendly and respectful relationship with all residents, staff and Board members;
- collaborating closely with residents' externals supports;
- connecting residents with external supports (case management, PSWS etc.) as needed;
- engage residents as full collaborators in service planning, delivery and evaluation;
- providing a safe environment and community for the residents to live and participate in;
- encouraging residents to focus on their abilities and challenge their weaknesses;
- facilitating involvement in their home community with other residents;
- working in partnership with residents in program planning;
- providing understanding and compassion when residents are experiencing challenges;
- assisting residents in setting personal goals and providing necessary skills training;
- recognizing when residents are experiencing health related concerns and able to address these concerns appropriately;
- assisting with resolving conflicts through mediation and dialogue;
- providing crisis intervention when necessary and reporting critical incidents to the program manager or designate in a timely manner.
Provides Residents with Information of Community Programs by:
- assisting residents to discover and utilize community resources;
- when appropriate attending the outing(s);
- fostering community partnerships and on-going liaison with various agencies;
Participates to Enable Accessible Client Services by:
- ensuring policies and practices related to accessibility are adhered to;
- Being alert to barriers that present individuals from participating freely;
- Avoid attitudes that discriminate or stereotype;
- Attend all required training sessions
Promotes St
Jude Community Homes by:
- representing St. Jude Community Homes in the broader community in a professional manner;
- explaining to referring agencies and the community at large the objectives and work of St. Jude Community Homes;
- responding to general enquires;
- establishing and maintaining communication with service related agencies when necessary;
- participating in social activities and special events;
- liaise as needed with significant involved others or residents, with their permission, on significant issues.
Skills and Qualifications
- Completion of postsecondary education mínimally with a college diploma in social services or in a related field.
- Minimum three years of experience working with people who have experience trauma, homelessness and mental health challenges.
- Experience fostering community development through programs and practices that promote recovery
- Organizational and time management skills coupled with strong interpersonal and team work skills;
- Ability to cope with stressful situations and manage crisis in a professional and timely manner.
- Demonstrated organizational skills, flexibility and adaptability.
- Knowledge and experience providing service to individuals living with a range of disabilities
- Demonstrated ability to provide holistic support, which may include: mental health, addictions counseling, basic life management skills, assertive communication, setting goals and managing change.
- Ability to facilitate and work with groups.
- Ability to coach and promote healthy, active balanced lifestyles.
- Working knowledge of community agencies as well as educational and rehabilitation programs.
- Demonstrated strong ability to work independently.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Certificates in First Aid, CPR, Crisis Prevention and Intervention and Occupational Health and Safety an asset.
- Willingness to grow professionally.
- Bilingualism is an asset.
- Proficient in word processing and spreadsheets
