JOB OVERVIEW:


As a Material Handler in the Production Department at Barton Factory, your primary responsibility will be to ensure the efficient and accurate movement of materials both inside and outside the plant.

Your role is critical in maintaining a smooth flow of production processes by handling shipments, loading and unloading trucks, and organizing the inventory.

Additionally, you will be accountable for performing daily forklift inspections, promptly storing received goods, and conducting quality inspections when necessary.

Your attention to detail, organizational skills, and collaborative spirit will contribute significantly to the overall success of the production operations.


GENERIC ACCOUNTABILITIES:


  • Receive shipments, carefully inspect their contents, and store them in designated areas.
  • Skillfully load and unload trucks, both indoors and outdoors, to facilitate the transportation of materials.
  • Process Kanban cards and manage stock levels to ensure a continuous supply of materials for production.
  • Keep inventory bin and shelf locations up to date, enabling easy access to materials.
  • Maintain overall organization and cleanliness of the warehouse, promoting a safe and efficient working environment.

SPECIFIC ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Conduct daily forklift inspections to ensure the equipment is in optimal working condition.
  • Promptly store all received goods in their designated locations to maintain an organized warehouse.
  • Perform quality inspections on incoming materials, reporting any discrepancies or damages as needed.
  • Ensure accurate labeling and proper placement of products to streamline production processes.
  • Stage parts for production and contract service, facilitating efficient workflow.
  • Assist in receiving parts in NAV (presumably a computer system) to update inventory records accurately.
  • Be willing to support other departments as needed, showcasing your adaptability and teamwork.

SPECIFIC TASKS:


  • Regularly clear the workspace of empty skids and totes to promote a clean and organized environment.
  • Efficiently pull, pack, and count parts based on production requirements to ensure accuracy.
  • Perform endofday cleaning and organizing tasks to maintain a tidy workspace.
  • Update the computerized inventory system daily for bin movements, ensuring data accuracy.
  • Conduct cycle counts as needed to maintain inventory accuracy.
  • Facilitate parts movement between bin and shelf locations in NAV, contributing to efficient material handling.

QUALIFICATIONS & EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:


  • Minimum of Grade 12 education, providing a solid foundation for the role.
  • Possess at least 2 years of experience in forklift operation, showcasing your proficiency in this area.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and familiarity with ERP systems, to handle inventory management tasks effectively.

PREFERRED SKILLS:


  • Intermediate computer skills, allowing you to navigate various software efficiently.
  • Attention to detail to ensure precision in all tasks.
  • Organizational skills to maintain an orderly work environment.
  • Teamwork, working collaboratively with colleagues to achieve common goals.
  • Problemsolving ability to address challenges related to material handling and inventory management.
  • Prior experience as a forklift operator, demonstrating your expertise in handling equipment.
  • Capable of lifting 50 lbs, enabling you to manage materials effectively.
