Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Assistant Buyer to join our procurement team.
The Assistant Buyer will support the purchasing process, vendor management, and supply chain operations to ensure efficient procurement of goods.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ÿ Verifies nomenclature and specifications of purchase requests.
- Ÿ Searches inventory records of warehouse to determine if material on hand is in sufficient quantity.
- Ÿ Consults catalog and interviews suppliers to obtain prices and specifications.
- Ÿ Types or writes invitation of bid forms and mails forms to suppliers.
- Ÿ Writes or types purchase order and sends copy to VP of Purchasing or responsible buyer for approval.
- Ÿ Compiles records of items purchased or transferred between departments, prices, deliveries and inventories.
- Ÿ Computes total cost of items purchased.
- Ÿ Confers with suppliers concerning late deliveries.
- Ÿ Verifies invoices from suppliers with bids and purchase orders and submits invoices to responsible buyer for approval.
- Ÿ Ensures the accurate and timely preparation, processing, distribution, and retention of all necessary reports and records regarding Purchasing organization.
- Ÿ Other duties may be assigned.
SKILLS / ABILITIES / REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to read and interpret documents, bids, contracts, catalogs, and invoices.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence, as well as Purchase Orders.
Computer proficiency.
Ability to use a ten-key by touch, facsimile, and copier.
Communicate effectively orally and in writing.
The position requires mínimal overnight domestic and international travel.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field
- Proven experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain roles
- Familiarity with purchasing systems and software
- Strong negotiation skills and ability to analyze pricing trends
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Knowledge of sourcing strategies and vendor management practices
- Understanding of supply chain principles and logistics

$23.00-$25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
